December 5, 2022. Just cleaned out the barn... Shredder steel paid $5 per CW ($100 / ton) at a local major scrap yard. Pittance, but the barn looks a lot better.

And the traffic at the scale was light. When price was $12 per CW, the line around the scale was agonizingly long.
I am back on the shop clean out i am trying to get rid of as much as i can. I moved another tote to the shop yesterday because i was saving stuff because of it being easyer than scrapping it now i have no excuse. Its been $100.00 a ton so far.

I think most are around $120.00 on shred . I ask about #2 steel and its around $130.00 . I hauled a load of no ferrous and its stayed about the same. I was going to start loading a load of #2 thinking it could go up between now and summer but who knows. I guess i will stay on the non ferrous for now but it takes alot of work to get it ready.

I haven't called lately. I have a small bin of non-ferrous I've collected and about dump trailer load of ferrous to haul. I'm in no rush. I wanted it gone before snow came. That didn't happen. Now we have thawed, muddy ground with about 8" of snow on top. My random pile can sit til spring thaw now.

I sold a load of sheet aluminum for .48 a pound i was happy with that. Shred is holding at $140.00 a ton it could be a little better but thats way better than $100.00 a ton.

I have a similar collection with a similar stagnation point. I haven't cared enough to call, but my local yard is PACKED, both with material and patrons. Must be coming up?

I hauled a load of non ferrous stuff yesterday. I had the trailer already load so i loaded a pallet of electric motors on the pickup and topped it off with some ACSR. I was very happy with what i got about 2 weeks pay at a regular job. I wasnt going to use this old pickup like i have been. I didnt plan on going to far from home or towing much . It is now in ok mechanical shape its no power house and it came home unloaded better than going with a load. I wish it was 2wd i would go all out on it and fix the rust but its doing the job i bought it for and i may fix the body someday.
