Lets not forget though....most of those big electric drive haul trucks are only that....electric traction motors with a big DIESEL powering them.
The world is not there yet with battery power.

Even John Deere stated that at a few farm shows. They had "electric" agricultural tractors on display that had no powertrains in them, LOL And they said outright.....we are not there yet for high h.p. applications.

Those Janus trucks have either a 500 kw electric motor or a 600 kw, so 570 or 800 HP.

Any diesel over electric would probably have a electric motor hp around 80-95% of the diesel hp powering them.

Actually the electric motors are over rated, they offer much more power for braking.

Yet it still takes Fossil Fuel to feed those batteries should all the trucks and cars get converted is the Elephant Achilles Heel. NO other power supply system is as viable and consistent enough to recharge all the battery replacement systems. A dozen, a hundred, novelty not so much, a Hundred THOUSAND and you cannot get enough power from Solar or Wind or combined to feed these. Simple Math and horrible for environment mining to achieve the batteries to begin with.

Latest out on damaged(Wrecked) EVs, due to insurance constraints and costs of repairs even a minor fender bender can get one of these totaled. First up ANY battery or Battery case damage, insurers will not even cover cost to investigate, next up, Soy and other plant based plastics, ability to repair is dismal at best, then cost to obtain ONLY new panels.

Do you have a place where I can review that information? It is something that I would need to know at times.

Ram has announced that they will be building an electric pickup that has a gas engine generator running a constant speed as a range extender. This should help for the people who want an actual pickup they can use every day.
I know a family in our area that bought a Ford ev 150 for farm use and everyday driving. They complained right away to the dealer that the range was nowhere near the expected range. They took it on a trip to the nearest city 200km away and couldn’t make it home. They tried to return the truck to the dealer but were told that was not an option.

It makes perfect sense electromechanically to use a battery and a little generator. So long as the truck is used for short acceleration and long cruise. If you point it up the side of a mountain and leave it near the floorboards for half an hour like we do around here your results might be different.

...and you can pick up some of that energy on the way back down with regenerative braking.

I would be more comfortable with a hybrid than a full on ev. Hybrid tech has been around for a long time, and you really only use the electric on the highway

One side tells you, " you're destroying your kids future, no more internal combustion engines" The other side "EV is going to fail, stay away from it" If Canada and the United states stopped all oil consumption, it would hardly make a dent in emissions compared to the rest of the world. Develop the EV tech, and if people want it they can have it. Leave my gasser alone, and stop trying to tax me and my employer into a choice we should be free to make on our own.
