I rented this 10k lb vibrating roller for a large shop pad. In about 3 hours of use it consumed 5.5 gallons of fuel. This seems high to me. But then it has all that Obamao smog junk on it. None of my own machines have DEF, DPF etc.

Is this high fuel consumption a product of all the modern crapola on the motor? Or are vibrating rollers all just fuel hogs? My little Wacker trench compactor weighs 3700 lbs and consumes about 0.5 gallon in an hour. This 10000 rented machine consumes four times the fuel.
