Aircraft tires use nitrogen so when at altitude they don't deflate like air filled tires do, it has nothing to do with preventing explosions. Smaller aircraft that can't climb high enough still use air, but once the aircraft is capable of climbing over a certain altitude, their all nitrogen filled, unless they've come out with something newer in the last decade or so I'm not aware of.
