Was it Africa or somewhere where the real operators wore sandals. I think someone at Zeigler realized they better look after Steve or they could have been facing a big lawsuit with little chance of winning.
I seem to recall some guy on here from over in Africa posting pictures of him and another guy doing some major work on a dozer or loader and they were wearing sandals and got a lot of comments about it!

Now that you have your tractor running well and am very happy you came out alright on it. Don't forget to keep an eye on your cutting edge. Don't want to wear into the moldboard!

Is your decellerator broke? I always figured that they wouldn't have put it on there if it wasn't intended to be used. just my $.02

In big tree's like that you have to be extremely careful a tree doesn't come for you. It is a lot easier on the transmission and drivetrain to decelerate before changing direction. You don't want to be down because of tranny problems after waiting so long to get your machine working properly.

Thanks, yes the decelletator works fine ,just forgot to use it. Still getting familiar with the machine. This machine is a joy to operate .Everything is working great My hats off to to everyone who helped me get this machine back and running again.
Back in the day the tranys had what was called " soft shift"or "full power shift" so the engine didn't need to be decelerated so long as the machine was stationary when the selection was made.

It took a little digging but found the following in the operators manual for D6 Powershift machines:

It really is a good practice! The decelletator is there for a purpose. Thanks for reminding me !On a related note, what is the worst that some of you guys have seen ,transmission problems, I mean, from not using decelletator?
More than likely you will have final drive issues before transmission problems. Running the old 66A D9G's I would only use partial decel when going from forward to reverse when pushing over banks, a lot less time to spool the engine back up and a lot less black smoke. Otherwise it was full decel changing directions.

Used to do the same on 10N's depending on how many thousand vertical feet the blade was hanging over on the outside edge. Not so much with the R's and T's

Just to give you guys an update on my D6c ,I have put on approximately 100 hours since almost letting my machine go back to Ziegler caterpillar,it has performed flawlessly. The only issue that i had was a broken bolt on dozer hydraulic ram, my fault trying to grub a stump out at an extreme angle.
I was so close to abandoning a good hard working machine due to costs involved getting it back to original condition.
Special thanks kshansen old iron habit, welderDave,DMiller,Hobbytime and anyone who contributed to helping me!
I can never repay you guys enough for helping me.This truely is a great help forum!!
