dozr -- i thought about welding a piece on top to make up for the missing material but changed my mind to just do layers of welds. it will be stronger plus it will last longer in the cold weather.

with the blade in my little shop, i was able to get the right side corner frog built up to what is is suppose to be. i just kept layering the 3/16 7018 lincoln excalibre rods over and over to get the height i need. i figured on starting on the lowest end first then the rest will be easy.

this being a 6 way blade the corners get worned pretty fast plus the remote location of this cat makes it hard to get parts flown in.

2014-02-22_11-29-43_216.jpgWe just went through that with a customers TD25G and we used 1 1/2 x 3" for the new bottom, clamped it to new edge and welded, then flipped it and gouged it in to the new welds and filled it.

overworked -- that is the way to go with new material that is the right stuff. up here it takes a while to get the right parts.
i thought of adding a piece of steel but i would waste a lot of time trying to get it to fit. since it is a 6 way blade only the corner edges are worn the most and the centre only need 1/2" of material. today i'm almost 1/2 way a cross the blade building it up. the left side corner will only need an inch of weld to bring it up. where the bolt holes are worn thin i used the mig to weld it up. then burn the big rod over top with no problems.

overworked -- somedays i wished i lived in the south and could walk in to a store and pick up what i need when i want it. but i wake up from the dream and realise that there will be 20 other guys bidding on the same job. the profit margin would be very low on these types of jobs.

any pictures of the finished blade???
