Does anyone know where I can order a compression adapter for the Cummins B3.3 (Made by Komatsu)
Yes, I know we can have the machine shop build us one out of an old injector but this is not what we are looking for.
Cummins says they don't do compression tests, that they measure blow-by (Crankcase pressure) but we are simply trying to evaluate the engine before investing in injector/pump repairs.

Cummins SAYS they do NOT offer this compression adapter. Do not know if this is true...

Pretty much covers everything EXCEPT the 3.3 / Boy this is a bugger!!! - I do not know which model number Komatsu uses when they put this engine in THEIR machines either, Bet it uses the same injectors though?

I believe it is based on the Komatsu 4D95 series of engines

The injectors look like stubby dt466 or even ford 7.8 or cummins 8.3 squirters, wonder how they measure up, could maybe modify one of the cheap adapters to suit? I have one of the sets around, I could measure the adapters if you give me specs.

The problem is I have no way to measure the angled part of the injector where it actually seals, It is DARN close to the angle on a Yanmar injector but Not Quite. We gave up and did the Cummins blow-by/ crankcase pressure test and came through fine, Our Tech said with this method you could isolate individual cylinders by cracking the injectors one at a time and then seeing if an individual cylinder is causing the problem...The reason I am so flabbergasted about the lack of a compression adapter is that many times we have had to evaluate an engine that is not running. Hopefully determining the condition of the bottom end PRIOR to doing all the fuel system stuff. Are we thinking correctly here? I don't want to mess with that until we know what we're dealing with first. On THIS particular engine the inj pump and injectors are off to be rebuilt and we will see what we see.
