I just got an older Champion and don't know too much about it yet but reading some older posts, the transmission is very susceptible to low voltage. Some say you need 14.3 volts for the transmission to work properly. I fixed a corroded connection on mine and the dash gauge now shows just under 14 volts so I think it's OK. Transmission seems to operate fine. The gauge only showed 12 volts before and trying to reverse over a small pile it didn't want to move unless I put it in 1st gear reverse. Even though you said electricity is OK I think you should make sure your alternator and charging system are working properly and putting out enough volts.
