So another noob question , machine serial is KGF and is equipped with quick connect however a friend gave me a used hammer that was sittting and no use to him ,said if i can get it going i can have it , its a maverick hammer but in very good condition just missing a hose ,now my question is how do i make it to fit my qc as it was previously mounted directly to his machine
is it a good idea to run a hammer on qc or mount it directly ?

any and all help is appreciated

G..G..G..Granville.........!! Fetch your cloth.
My first though would be that the impact of the hammer would rapidly wear the jaws of the quick coupler. I may be wrong in that though, I guess it all depends on how much hammer work you want to do with it as to whether it would be simpler to mount it direct or to try to adapt it to the QC.

I dunno. We run 2k, 5k, 7.5k, 8k, 10k, and 12k breakers all on pin grabber couplers.
Never a hammer related issue.
And, I switched all of my 90 and 100mm pins to 80mm to allow further ease of interchange on my 7.5k and 8k breakers. Again, no issues.

Don't misunderstand...we've endurance tested and broken just about every coupler here. Number one destruction action is heel beating a bucket to compact dirt, rather than putting a plate compactor on. Number two is shovel digging in hard material (installing the bucket backwards).

Place the pin in a turning lathe. Reduce the outer diameter of the center section of the pin to whatever dimension you want, while leaving the ends the correct size.

Was the hammer previously on a 320D or some other machine?

What type of QC do you have on your 320?

Do you have a wedge style QC ? Or pin grabber QC ?

Does the breaker have a plate bolted to the top ? Make a cardboard cutout of your current bucket lugging, spacing etc and have a machine shop make a new top plate for the hammer with your lugging. Easy.

will have to get a welder to do it in the yard as there are very few specialised machine shops that can do that on our island

The 322B was a Caterpillar "S" linkage. The 320D has a Caterpillar "B" linkage.
If the 320D has a Caterpillar pin grabber coupler on it, it will grab that "S" linkage, no problem.
