A new feature coming to light on these machines, some are stripping the timing gears. On another forum one bloke is on his 4th engine in 1200 hours.

TBH we put that additive in all hydraulic systems on all new machines at time of assembly and leave it there until the oil is changed at (for us) 2000 operating hours. For a machine the size of a 299 that change would probably be time-based, say 1 year from date of commissioning.
