I have a CAT 248 Skid loader that was working fine, when back dragging some millings the machine completely stopped engine still running. no movement no lift. almost like the lift bar was lifted. turned machine off. started fine, hit the rocker to release brake red light goes off, still no movement. Sounds like it's the pump disc attached to engine? I did start the machine and check the radiator fan which is hydraulic which is not spinning. Any other checks I should consider? If it is the pump plate, do you pull the motor or pull the pumps? Which is faster and easier? Thanks for any advice

That along with the way the functions were lost confirms it is the pump drive.

Flip a coin. A lot depends on whether you have equipment capable of lifting the weight of the engine and pump as a single unit. The "book" way is to pull the engine & pumps then split them once out. It is also possible to go in and remove the pumps separately but there is no procedure for this, you have to make it up as you go along.
