Hi,

I'm looking for a wiring diagram for a case 430 series 2 skidsteer, the pdf I have is a bit blurry on the wiring diagrams.

Previous owner bypassed various wires and I'm trying to get things back to what they should be.

I'm not sure yet, the white wire on the back of the ignition switch was bypassed as were the lights, there were also some other wires spliced into wires on the back of the ignition switch, I think that was for their makeshift light circuit. The cluster had some burnt components and a burnt pcb trace which I repaired.

The hydraulic coupler /beacon light fuse keeps blowing even though neither of those are present.

The engine is currently out and I've pressure washed everything. The wiring harness, fuse/relay box and connectors look good. The battery I had was flat so will check again with a better battery.

I suspect the faulty components in the cluster were for the lights and the burnt trace could be why they had to bypass the white wire. Other than that and removing their wiring I have not really "fixed" anything so I still suspect something to be faulty causing no power to the starter solenoid.

A wiring diagram would be of tremendous help.

My 420 book has the same diagram as the 440 book, things may look a little different but the wiring is the same. Your 430 should be the same too. The white wire leaves this page, then goes through a flat four pin connector and then back to this page. The beacon light and coupler switch both get the power from the same 10A fuse which you already know. Check that wire for a ground around your fuse panel or at the front left bottom corner of your cab frame where the cab tilts forward.

Thanks Tom,

I also found a wiring diagram for a 435/445 which gave me enough hope to try again. I printed the two pages and stuck the together, seems rather silly to go make a loop on another page!

I found the 15A fuse terminal not making contact, cleaned that and the cluster came to life again. Then found the starter relay to engage but no output, same thing, one of the terminals was not making contact. The unit was standing outside for a number of years since the engine packed up and the fuse cover was missing. For now I'm getting power on the solenoid wire, not sure if it will sustain a load, but it is a good start.

The brake solenoid sounds to be clicking, horn and lights are working so I'm hoping there aren't any other electrical gremlins waiting for me. I did look at the cab strut hinge pin where the wiring harness passes through but it looked good so still not sure where the short is but I don't have a beacon light or hydraulic quick attach so I can live with it for time being. Looking at the diagram again now and I see the hydraulic coupler switch wire goes to the left hand console, there was a loose wire in there, it might be touching somewhere.

Anybody know how to open and reclose the wiring harness? That stuff is tuff especially on the ends where they doubled up. I need to extend the light wires as they cut them off at the end of the harness. I could just cut it but then it will fray, I'm wondering how the factory got it so neat and tight.

The instrument cluster on those have to be replaced at times. I have had several 400 series and replaced one of them.

Sounds like it should be considered a consumable!

I should now have two, the original one that i repaired but without hour meter display and the donor one which seems to be working fine.

I've read the most common issue is water getting in. Any other issues?

Ps. What is the difference between the two light buttons? I thought the one is for front and the other is for rear?

One button turns on the rear work light with the front lamps and the other one will have the front lights and the tail lamps.
