Can I break these off sticking out of basement wall

Can I break or cut these metal pi vest off sticking out of our basement wall pretty sure they were there to hold the forms

I nip them with a 4" grinder if they resist much, it keeps you from spalling out the concrete so much.

That was my thoughts just wanted to be sure before I started cutting we plan to finish out the basement eventually

yes those are what is left of the snap ties that held the forms in place.

Yea those are just the duraform ties. A few hits with a hammer and they'll break off.

I put a pipe on them and bent them up and down, not side to side. They snap right off.

Yep you can break or cut those off flush with the wall surface. They should've already been removed by the wall contractor or the builder.

If they are true snap ties and not just pencil rod, you should bend them 90 degrees, and then twist.
They will snap off about 3/4" back in the wall, and then you can fill with grout.
Some come with plastic cones, to make a funnel shaped hole.

Hit them to the side, with a hammer. They snap off.

The one's with the plastic are camel lock ties which break off by twisting, the one's in the picture above are duraform ties and will break from being hit in any direction.

Same style used on our house project, told to slap them sideways with larger hammer, snap right off.

Good to know house was built in 99 we just bought it in august upstairs has been remodeled but the basement was never finished out will be adding a bathroom a bedroom/office and a family room maybe with a small wet bar

That's my interpretation of the term.

Which brings up the question 4x4 did the builder stub out a bath and sewage basin in the basement? If not it's not a huge deal just a PITA to cut concrete and trench.

It’s actually all stubbed out including a square formed in the floor for the tub drain
