I'm over in Pennsylvania. I've got no issues receiving anything at the dock at work, but I fear the freight might be a killer. That said, I would be interested in at least looking in to the possibility if it turns out you have something.

But i'm still willing to give The exact dimensions of What I have.... I really don't think it'd be that hard to build one... Coming up with the shiv might be the hardest part

Thanks for checking. The dimensions will probably be all I need. As for the sheave, well, finding one the right size will be no problem, but wanting to pay for it, that's another issue... At least with the sizes, I can spend time gathering things as I can justify the cost.

Hi. I'm new to this forum. I own an old H-3 and am looking to purchase a complete set of manuals for it. Any advice would be much appreciated. I recently purchased it.

Keep an eye on Ebay. They do turn up now and again. Be prepared for some sticker shock when they show up.

Thank you for your reply.

Is there any official source for the manuals?

If not, I'd be happy to pay for a good set of copied or scanned manuals.

I'm in S. California.

Thanks

Mark

I can't say on that. BE was sold off. Part of it went to Cat, and part went to Sparrows Group (and then they combined with someone else). I believe Cat just wanted the mining side, so Sparrows might have gotten the crane info. I've never tried to chase down anything official.

A copy of the op manual would be ok probably. The parts manual, you would likely want an original as the line drawings really need to be clean/clear to see the detail. It's not that you can order the parts, because everything has a BE part number that's useless, but being able to see the detail can be extremely useful.

I've taken a few photos of specific pages for people that came out ok, but I haven't done a complete set.

As a matter of fact, I have... I've got the full parts, and owner's manuals now. I don't know if they had a service manual available. Most of the service info I need is in the owner's though. The only real missing info is what the various hydraulic circuits should be running at in terms of PSI. I believe the pump is supposed to be putting out 6000. I haven't checked to see if there are any circuit reliefs on the valve stacks.
I'd pay you for a copy if you have handy

I only have the hard copy. In theory, I could scan them as they are 3 ring bound, and can come apart. Doing so is problematic for a few reasons... A) the time commitment to do a proper job B) remembering to do said job (life is busy) C) my scanning software sucks. D) one of my scanners works well, but the interface is a nightmare, and the second scanner interface is ok, but the resolution isn't fabulous. (likely fine for the operators, but lacking for the parts)

That's not to say it wouldn't get done, but until the winter when I'm stuck indoors, it isn't likely to get moved to the priority list. It isn't about the money. I paid an outrageous amount for these, but I came to terms with that already.
