Big wheel on excavator???

I saw an excavator today that had what looked like about a 4' diameter wheel on the boom. It was probably a foot or so wide and looked like it was for packing but wasn't a sheepfoot design. Has anybody else ever seen something like this? The operator was lifting the machine up and running the stick in and out with this big wheel.

It was probably a smooth drum vibratory roller. Did it have hydro lines running to it?

I don't think there were any lines hooked to it but just saw it as I drove by. I don't think he'd need to lift the lift the tracks up if it was a vibratory roller.
