Battery chargers

on scissor lifts that have old batteries and batteries have been ran dry. It seems like im having to replace chargers at the same time I replace batteries. Anybody else have to do this ?

The charger will sometimes burn out from the batteries running dry .But if the batteries ran dry . It might have been over charging the batteries to make them run dry .
