Well I might just buy this. I always wanted CAT D2 since I was a kid. Its my favor dozer. Mostly because of the book, "bulldozer" The story of a kid that rescues a D2 from a lake, gets it going, starts a contracting business, saves the town from a forest fire, saves his girl from a blizzard, etc. A great read. I got the book memoried at this point.
Its a 1941 cat dozer with a 7' lapolat cholte (i know thats spelled wrong) dozer blade. Needs a head. Since its cracked right between cylinder 3 and 4 at the valves. (commom problem come to find out) (anybody got one?)
It looks really rough, but it was working when it was taken apart to fix it by its current owner. (friend of a friend that treats me like a son when it comes to old cats, when he goes, his wife said I can buy his fully restored D-4 cable dozer YAHOO) A little welding and sandblasting will get it looking good again. Here are some pics. Sorry they suck, it was my camera phone and it was getting dark.
Think its worth $1500. All of the parts are there, except a seat. I would love to bring it home.
Or does someone else got a CAT D2 laying around running they want to part with.
