Cat 336 fl having scr and def problems dfy00174 s#codes

The shop thought they had it fixed last week use it have day codes back walk to lay down and derated back to shop thank in advance

Any idea what the ship did that made them think they fixed the problem.?

3118-6 is the DEF Pump Motor Current Above Normal. Attached is the diagnostic procedure but be aware that it requires Cat ET to perform it.

The shop just got cat et and the computer. they apparently went through step by step last week didn’t find anything so had a feeling it was going to act up today. Cheers thanks for quick reply and info sent to shop

Problem solved and some $ def tank pump leaking through sensor from the pump so replaced pump and wiring harness cause of corrosion

We had a 316F with 1200 hrs do the same thing, one of the pressure sensors let def get into the wiring harness, by the time Cat figured out what was going on it had contaminated most of the wiring harness all the way to the cab, they changed it all. Not good, no way to see what was going on until we started unplugging things and found def fluid dripping out of the connections all over the machine.
