1991 bobcat 743

hello all im new to this just bought 91 743 and there is a large plate between pedals and we cant figure out what it does its laying flat now but you can tell when you lift the cab that a spring is supposed to keep it up normally thanks in advance for advice

If I remember correctly, my old 743 had the parking brake plate at that location. The plate flipped forward to pull the spring rod that set the break. If you can post a photo of it maybe we could say for sure.

Yes, its the parking brake.
