This is a Cat D8K dozer that i am currently building.I got as a kit, made by Arpra from Brazil.
It usually come with a angle dozer but since i already had in my collection a D8K with angle blade, i decided to build something a little bit different.
More pictures to come, as well as a description of the work involved.
Max.

Hi!!
I am back.....( i wish i'd be able to show py pictures directly but it seems like i am doing something wrong.....it might have something to do with the size of my images.....)
So that model is in 1/50.
For those who are'nt familiar with the scales, the dozer is ptrtty much the same size than a coffee cup.
The blade come from a Norscot D8R.

The gap between the blade lift cylinders on the D8R being narrower than on the D8K, i had to remove both inside ears, so on the new blade, the outside ears became the inside ones.To build the outside ears, i used a 3/16 brass angle.

Next thing i did was to cut the components that are gonna give the D8R blade a U-shape.
Both inside curled pieces are made of 1/32 brass sheet.I press the pieces against a circular object in order to give them the curve shape-it was a piece of steel pipe, approx 5/8 in diameter.

The next pieces are shims that i added in order to make the new blade 1/16 wider on each side.On the real machine, 1/16 would mean a little over 3 inches.
The last pieces(both outside brass pieces) are upward cutting edges. They are sitting gainst the 1/16 shims and on the curled pieces.

On the D8R, the blade arms are empty-or if you guys prefer, in some kind of C-shape.On the D8K, they are square.
In order to fill the gap, i used a 1/8 X 1/16 brass C-channel.
Also, the blade hydraulic tilt cylinder are female while on his ancester, they are male. That's why i added a ear on the C-channel.I cut one ear on the D8R plastic sleeve in order to make it male.

The stabiliser bar on the D8R became the blade pitch control linkage on the D8K

I shortened to an appropriate lenght and drilled the hole for the pin.
