    John Deere 570 A Grader

That's why I'm happy with my 570A. It's enough of a grader to deal with my 4 miles of road and handle four tight turn-arounds. Parts and advice are available through Honnen Equipment in Durango, however dealer on sites visits are expensive. I have all four manuals -Parts, Technical, Operators...

    John Deere 570 A Grader

Concerning float capability the answer is yes. Visit with the JD dealer in Durango if you want/need information on that model. I will also suggest that there are more efficient ways of plowing snow for one mile of road.

    John Deere 570 A Grader

Get the TM as suggested. The problem most likely is in the directional change cable linkage. This is cable operated between the cab and the transmission. On the left side, (from the operator seat), you will find where both the directional change and the speed change levers move the levers on the...

    Boulder Hunt!

None that I know of. The primary issue would be the accumulation of Radon gas from the surrounding earth and ventillation solves that problem. Most issues have come from water and humidity with rot/mold problems. Some issues with rock fall, both can be mitigated.

    Boulder Hunt!

The Hole in the Rock was constructed in the 1950's as a restaurant. Many Uranium miners in the area at that time and they were employed to make the space. I found myself working in and around these mines for twenty years and understood how comfortable compared to outside they could be. It's not...

    Ever blade backwards?

@cutting edge A motorgrader is constructed to operate in the foreward "Pulling the Moldboard". That is why the thingy supporting the circle is called the Draft Frame. The front end pulls the moldboard. Once you understand this you will move to the next level. Push frames push, Draw frames pull...

    Boulder Hunt!

    I'll try this again

    Boulder Hunt!

Around these parts we use our rocks differently. Instead of digging them up, we just dig them. Completed five so far, just waiting for that roadheader to show up and we'll make a few more.

Thoughts on putting a magnet inside a final drive?

Maybe put it on the outside of the housing near the drain plug? Lots of uses for magnets on yellow iron.

570B John Deere Rear Steering Positioning Sensor? Help!

I would like to follow up on this. I have been told "It's an obsolete machine" by dealership too. Not good advertising for Deere especially if you purchased the machine through their dealership like I did.. It's a nice feature, however not required to keep the machine working. I assume this...

570B John Deere Rear Steering Positioning Sensor? Help!

So why do you need the sensor? The A models did not have them. Just curious.

    Champion D600 tune up

Stopping dead in the road reminds me of an operator who had a particular "ROCK" that caused him to hit the window one to many times. He took me and half a box of dynamite to the offending rock and taught me how to "plaster and blast-her. My job was traffic control on one end.

    Champion D600 tune up

And road surface is the other half of the equation. Well maybe a fourth as roads are for drivers and they are the beneficiary after all. My drivers go right down the middle leaving ruts on either side of the crown. I can talk to them until I'm blue, but they're the ones that pay. So maybe the...

    Champion D600 tune up

Well maybe that dream machine would be a Champion. I cut my first blades on a AW 200. Hydralics AND Rear Steer. Did I mention six wheel drive? Tough mountain machine with a Detroit plus blower for the higher altitudes.

    Champion D600 tune up

Well I started with the circle. Using the instructions in the Technical Manual and help from the forum. Then I began to understand how the circle works and why motorgraders wear out. Taking the play out there requires vertical and horizontal adjustments. Greasing the circle gear teeth is often...

    Champion D600 tune up

On my grader there are shims in all the componets from the moldboard slide up. Removing shims can take out some of the play, but on the moldboard slide, wear is uneven across the rails and may result in the blade sticking when it is at the far end of its positions. Lot depends on how well these...

    Bought a JD 570

Having a 570A for more than 10 years I would suggest that the saddle pins could be a function you will not use much. That said, watch them when you start up. Mine will retract and then reingage as the hyd. pump charges up. They are low hyd. pressure and do not work like a regular hyd. cylinder...

    Front steering cylinders 570A

I forgot to mention that the side shift cylinder rod needed to be replaced, ($$$). Apparently it was bent. It extends to the right and that was my favorite side for most of my work, pull from right to left. I now understand that was the weakest side as the rod is fully extented when leverage is...

    Front steering cylinders 570A

Got it. Hydraulics guy said cycle the cylinders back and forth a few times, shut the machine off and let any foam subside. Repeat up to six times, increasing the stroke each time. Goal is keep foaming oil out of the pump. I like the idea of not compressing the air/oil more than necessary.

    Front steering cylinders 570A

Will be installing rebuilt steering cylinder, (one of two), and 60 in. blade side shift cylinder today. My concern is bleeding air out in hydraulic lines and rebuilt cylinders. Previously on the rebuilt blade tilt cylinder I cracked the hose connection and gently worked the lever until the...
