    Cat 321d c6.4 no start

Will try this 12 volt motorcycle theory as when I tested the data link connector it has all the proper voltages and resistance on the data lines just no communication

    Cat 321d c6.4 no start

What is this CDL? Yes most stuff we hook up is j1939 & j1708. What is the CDL data protocol? Is there a jumper we can purchase or do we need the actual CAT one? Tons of equipment around and work around, Iam a firm believer in suck, squeeze, bang, blow & power, ground and ignition voltage and...

    Cat 321d c6.4 no start

Yes I have. Mostly gensets and aggregate equipment for a local gravel Company.. but all that stuff is always 12 volts because it's on the smaller side of things

    Cat 321d c6.4 no start

That'd be great. What iam not understanding is I have CAT ET but it won't connect. But at the shop I can connect to a kenworth with a C15 cat. The pin on this excavator was missing and I cut a used data link connector out of a old harness and hardwired it back but but still won't talk? I know...

    Cat 321d c6.4 no start

Ok quick update, bypassed the wiring to the fuel solenoid and we now have fuel coming out on the high pressure pump. But still won't start???? Something must be telling the ECM to not fire the injectors.....hmmm

    Cat 321d c6.4 no start

Excellent thank you. If it comes down to the pump ,Do you happen to know the torque on the pump gear nut. The timing procedure looks pretty basic, line up the #3 and lock the pump?

    Cat 321d c6.4 no start

Crank or speed sensor? Seems to have 2 in bell housing right beside each other. One looks adjustable the other bolts in

    Cat 321d c6.4 no start

Yes we have tried extensively to get some sort.of pin inserted no luck. Do you know off hand if the ECM pulses the solenoid on the pump? Or just straight up power/ground like an old school fuel shut of solenoid?

    Cat 321d c6.4 no start

Looking for some insite here. Got a 2011 321d with a C6.4. Sat for 2 months and has a Cranking no start with no fuel coming out of the high pressure pump. I Swapped filters and primed the system still wouldn't start, ran a line from suction side of pump into Jerry can of fresh diesel and still...

    Cat c 4.4

Hmm okay. I'll take another peak when it shows up, they are going to float it to my shop this week. Thanks a bunch!

    Cat c 4.4

The 9 pin round connector in the fuse box down near the throttle pedal. Did see any others hanging in the harness near the ECM

    Cat c 4.4

Yea that's why I went the snap on route. Covers all class 8 on highway engines with full bidirectional control and service information.Still pretty expensive, but there's nothing it can't don't for on highway diesel engines just very limited on offroad. It wouldn't hook up to a 650h deere dozer...

    Cat c 4.4

Hmm well I guess I'll leave it in his ball court. Wait or roll the diagnostic dice. Like I say there is no smoke when running rough, no blow by and all the cylinders when using a heat gun are running within 40 degrees of each other. Not an ideal situation I hate operating like this. I've...

    Cat c 4.4

Ahh that makes sense. My cat program is through my snap on scanner and it only supports cat products. Anyway to get flash codes out of it? I work on all his dump trucks and concrete mixers so I took this on to try to help the guy out as the local cat dealer is weeks away to come out. Yay me lol

    Cat c 4.4

I only have a snap-on HD scanner with the cat program and I bought the off-road equipment plug. that isn't a cat engine so maybe thats why the ecm dosnt show up?

    Cat c 4.4

Engine serial number is TBY00485 It runs incredibly rough, low power every so often and when warm has a very hard start. Very little blow by, I've already bypassed the fuel tank and ran out of a jerry can and it still runs like a bag every so often. Replaced all filters and rubber lines. With...

    Cat c 4.4

Hey guys I've got a cat telehandler here with a c4.4 and I suspect it needs a high pressure fuel pump. Iam a cummins truck tech so I bought the adaptor for my scan tool to hook up and I can only see the transmission module and no ecm. Is there another location for the data link connector other...
