    D6T SystemOne Undercarriage

All of your experience has proven very valuable to a newbie like myself. I have a 2010 D6T with a SystemOne track and I have two bushings broken and off center and another bushing loose on the right track. I’m told this is an indicator that the rails are shot. Do you agree? Seeing Cat doesn’t...

    D6T Dozing Technique

Thanks for the reply. today the tracks were loose, 3.5” sag and the specs call for 2.2” sag. When I would reverse from a slot and turn to start a new slot, I would hear a slip or bang in the right track from time to time. Almost like they were too loose. Which is why I tighten them back into...

    D6T Dozing Technique

Sand. Ground is sand too. As I push, I leave a coating of sand for the next strip of pond i am digging. I might say it’s wet sand, but at the very least semi-wet. there’s 6” of top soil I’m removing but then sand. It’s a wet type sand, I’m digging a pond and then pushing the spoils.

    D6T Dozing Technique

Always 1st gear. the temp is a little under the top tick mark on the gauge. I’m asking if the amount I’m pushing because I’ve had to tighten the track twice in the last few weeks to spec. if I’m pushing in sand, should the tracks stay in spec, loose or tight?

    D6T Dozing Technique

My question is to the most efficient pushing technique. I’m aware of slot dozing and I utilize it but I am more interested in the amount of spoil that I can push. I am currently pushing to the point of stall. Meaning I can hear and feel the stall coming and I push on that edge. Some call it...

    D6T Getting Hot

I see 190° on the lower portion of the pipe that is leading to the water housing.

    D6T Getting Hot

The inlet I am taking temp of the hose. Should I take the temp of the radiator itself?

    D6T Getting Hot

Is 230° ok? Does that point to that thermostat is faulty? I have a week and a half to run it and then I have time to make repairs.

I see 230° on that housing.

    D6T Getting Hot

Yes at low idle. Both the trans oil and engine oil were at the higher/thick tick mark, running hot, but not in the red. I ran the dozer until that point, idled down and checked the temps.

    D6T Getting Hot

The left inlet hose was around 135° and the outlet on the right was about 122°-125°. Both temps bounced a couple degrees but it is close.

    D6T Getting Hot

I bought an IR temp gun, what temps should I be looking for off those hoses into and out of the radiator?

    D6T Getting Hot

Would it be ok if I ran the dozer until it got hot, then idle it down to cool, and hop in the excavator to use that for a couple hours. Then hop back in the dozer for an hour or two? that’s until I can get it fixed. We’re under a time crunch and can’t get the dozer in the shop at the moment...

    D6T Getting Hot

I don’t have a thermal temp gauge. It I can get one. should I take the temps in different places? Any temp I’m looking for?

    D6T Getting Hot

The hydraulic temp never gets too hot. on the radiator itself, I see three different types. is the one in the engine compartment on the right side looking out the hydraulic radiator? That’s pretty clean. then if I look in the front grills, there’s one type of radiator on the left, is that...

    D6T Getting Hot

I can try and get photos of the pan tomorrow. I’ll try to attach a photo of the belt I’m referring to.

    D6T Getting Hot

I looked into the belly pans through the space up front and they look clear and clean. I also took a video of a belt from the fan that goes over to some type of mechanism next to the oil filler tube. It seems as though the belt is slipping on this item. Would that be contributing to this issue...

    D6T Getting Hot

I was referencing low idle when I said idle. I tried the 1500 rpm in neutral and it didn’t seem to help much. Do I have to remove the belly pan to clean in there or do I stick a power washer in there to try and clean it?

    D6T Getting Hot

KJL01125 I have not checked anything other than what I mentioned. I forgot to mention that both temps start to get hot, both engine and transmission.

    D6T Getting Hot

Here is the situation I am running into. 2010 D6T, 8,700 hours. I am pushing sand and lots of it. all fluid levels ok. I bought the machine used and it came out from a fly ash operation. I have cleaned/lightly power washed the radiator multiple times and have removed a lot of fly ash...
