how to check dubious jobsite soil for dump truck

I don't think any kind of sensor is needed to determine that you were going to get stuck there. How bout just not driving in a mudhole?

wrench set / braker bar / impact sockets

I always thought it was kind of a marketing gimmick. But after I had a set come to me in a used toolbox, I saved the "good" wrenches in the back of the box. I was stuck on some rounded off bolts and remembered that flank drive set, and they saved my bacon when nothing else had come close.

Well I don't know what to tell you. I can't see it from my house, and I ain't coming to hold your hand. Did you crawl underneath and see if they are on the bottom side/ inside? Considering it was built in probably 1978, you can either keep looking for the broken off zerks, or they replaced...

Looking at dump trucks again, single axle vs tandem

I've got a Mack R with a 300L engine, camelback suspension 9 speed, and it had a hard life before we got it, but that truck is tough as nails. High torque at low RPM's. Steel cab, simple gauges, and a million of them out there so used parts are plentiful. Might be tough finding rust free...

wrench set / braker bar / impact sockets

If there's no pawn shops with "reasonably" priced usa, buy the cheap stuff. Then when you discover what you break, replace it with good stuff. That said- I've always had better luck with the used USA tools off craigslist/ marketplace/ auctions/ pawn shop, than the cheap stuff. IF you buy...

The zerk on the outside of the ring (that coaldust circled), just greases the teeth on the turntable gear. I'm going to guess you need to rotate the upper while looking in the hole where your pipe plug is, until you see the zerk. I doubt the pipe plug is factory, they probably just welded...

    Question on installing crane

A lowboy powered by a wet kit, as soon as you kick the pumps in, the oil is making a "loop". From pump to trailer, back to tank. All those cranes you ran are the same way. The crane he is installing is the same. From the pump, to the valves, and back to tank, whether its doing any work or...

    Question on installing crane

You could just run the second sector in a loop back to tank. Or you could run it to a valve on the rear of the truck, and have hoses made up so you could have live hydraulics on the truck. Run cylinders/ jacks. Or power a hyd. winch. No reason to not put it to use/ have it available.

Bought a used 303.5 - Scammed or just Stupid? Or both?

You can probably rent that machine for $1500-1800 per week. So less than 2 weeks/ 80 hours? Say $3,500 a year in rental cost? vs. $30,000 tied up? I think I'd rent, but its not my money. Hope you get to use it, more than you are planning on.
