    Topcon pipe laser

I would not, myself. I use a target with a level bubble so you get it in the bottom of the pipe. I set the laser in the first stick on it's feet, go to the other end with the remote and dial it into whereever I left off the day before and keep going. The target is set to the height of the laser...

    Overload of the Day

that run to LaGrande is nice on a day like today. When I worked on I-5 in Centralia and Chehalis, we had two drunk drivers come through the closure. One lady pulled up to a flagger with the caution paddle out and just stopped in freeway traffic. The guys started yelling at her to go, and she...

    Hello

At a certain loss. If "pride of ownership" is that important then go ahead. Your iron? your repairs. your downtime. That is the real "pride of ownership". Rental? never your problem. bring me out another, please, this one quit working. pick up the iron Friday after work, or have it delivered. If...

Drainage Question - Tile Vs. Ditch / Swale

I know they talk about everything as "tile" due to how it is used, but for me tile is only that clay or concrete pipe with short lengths and bell and hub with no gasket or seal. Everything else is "pipe" to me. you can call it a tile line all you want but when it comes in 13's or 20's, that's...

    Hello

they are not cheap, but they are versatile. If that is the kind of work your friend will kick you then that is the piece to get. It is easy enough to rent a mini when needed. Speaking of renting, how about dip your toes in this idea by renting for a few jobs? If you can't make money by renting a...

That sounds like a hellish mess. Huge system and lots of places for junk to go hide.

    Hitachi ex120-2

yes put the case drain from the swing motor in a bucket. It should be next to nothing coming out of it. If you swing and it gushes, there you go.

    Overload of the Day

My "first responder" experience was something. I was 20 and had seen a few things being a farm boy, but nothing like this. I was following an old fellow in a 4 door Ford Fairmont. You can see in this screen capture, the road used to go straight with no tee intersection. A huge boulder had...

    Overload of the Day

Yes those yellow stripes and signs are not there for decoration. Most times you get your ass chewed off short and bloody and never do that again. Try reasoning with a crane counterweight.

what is dangling on the hook in that pic?

    Hitachi ex120-2

There should be no connection between the swing motor and the swivel, except for the case drains might get routed together back to the tank. That is all that I can think of. If the case drains run together like that, if it gets plugged on the way to the tank then you get a buildup to system...

Drainage Question - Tile Vs. Ditch / Swale

Yes as @bam1968 pointed out, tree roots are killers with jointed tile pipe. If it is all put into plastic gasketed or glued pipe, that problem goes away. It is a big job either way.

Cat 320CL slow swing, engine RPMs dropping

Catch whatever you can and look at it in a jar or clean white bucket. Keep working at it until it is clean and then going forward keep sumping it periodically. Thanks to @Nige for reminding me to get with the program on this.

    Hitachi ex200 lc

If the filters and oil were dirty when you changed it, there was probably some dirt in the system that is still there. Can you pull some out of the low point of the tank, where it feeds the pumps? Just to look at it and see.
