    Excavator Tracks Snow & Ice

The cleats I have seen were done on dozers with single bar grousers, usually done with grouser size metal cut in a triangle, then welded to grouser. It don't seem to weaken the grouser, but it might. They stay fairly sharp until the ice is gone in the spring, after that the rocks wear them...

How hard is it to find CAT 627E Scrapers with a 3406 for the rear engine?

Thanks for the reply Nige! I was told that the later model 627E had the 3406 in the rear. Referring back to my Cat Performance Handbook, it shows the 7CB Series has 330 HP for the Tractor and 225 HP for the Scraper end. The earlier Series had 225 HP for the Tractor and 225 HP for the Scraper...

    Excavator Tracks Snow & Ice

It is normal every fall for loggers and road builders that work on steep slopes on ice, to weld on new cleats cut to a point, on to the grousers of dozers and forestry harvesters, they use them all winter into summer. By then they are worn down and time to do it again in the fall. Without them...

How hard is it to find CAT 627E Scrapers with a 3406 for the rear engine?

I was told the 627E is a much more productive machine with the 3406 rather than a 3306 for the rear engine, so the hunt is on! Trying to put together a good fleet of push pulls without breaking the bank. Can anyone add some information about them? What Series would use them? Thank you...

More old D8H's I guess I missed getting back to this thread, that tractor is still setting there. The guy that built the cab uses his own design and likes to put lots of hand holds on the cab. I am selling a couple more of the D8H's of his. Those are really nice old tractors. This one...
