    New 9yd Machine

Thanks for the photos. I appreciate them. Regardless of technology, it is refreshing to see someone shaking up this market. It improves the competition in the long run and makes the products better. In the end, the equipment users benefit.

    New 9yd Machine

I think it looks pretty promising too. The proof will be in the quarry. 20-25% better fuel economy is looking better and better these days.

    New 9yd Machine

Introduced at ConExpo today. Looks interesting. Deere Developing Huge Hybrid Loader Deere & Co. At CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2011 tomorrow, John Deere will give the world a glimpse of the diesel/electric hybrid 944K wheel loader the company is working carefully to bring to market. "In...

John Deere Lube for Life Joints

John- They are made of a special material that self lubricates as I understand it. They are a dry joint. I remember an old Cat design (988 I think) and once they leaked oil, they were done.

John Deere Lube for Life Joints

John- They are used in all of the loader linkage pin joints. Boom to bucket, boom to loader frame, boom cylinders to boom, bucket cylinder to loader frame, bucket cylinder to bell crank, bell crank to boom, bell crank to bucket link and bucket link to bucket. You can get it on 544 through 844...

    Volvo Optishift ?

I would be worried about brake life/wear with the reverse by braking feature. I don't like the brakes being engaged by anyone other than me. The lockup is a good move though not new like the marketing hype suggests. Cat (large loaders), Komatsu, and most recently Deere have all had this feature...

    Advice for new Sewer/Water loader

The 644K is the right match up for the 950H. The 624K is lined up with the 938H. Make sure you get the right machine to demo. I think there is an additional counterweight package for the 644 that might be a good pick for pipe and box handling. I believe the 644K has a bit more hp and tip load...

    980GII or 980H Rebuild

How many hours are you guys getting on your 980's before a rebuild? Load-out application. I'm wondering if I can push it another year or if I need to hit it this winter.

    Deere 624K TC

Looks like Deere is bringing back the Tool Carrier linkage on their 624K model. It shows up in the brochure now anyway. Thoughts? http://www.deere.com/en_US/cfd/construction/deere_const/media/pdf/wheelloader/DKAKULDR.pdf

Deere Lock-Up Torque Converter Blows 4-Spd Away

John- What model(s) are you talking about? I routinely work on a 744J that is nearly at 24,000 hours with no center hitch issues, never had a trans, axle or eng rebuild either (not saying that is typical). Loads trucks all day long at a local quarry so the center joint sees lots of action. I...

    Float on JD544J

Then the pilot pressure is probably set too low. It takes about 450psi of pilot pressure to fully shift the spool into float. You should get about 550-600psi of pilot pressure when the control lever is put into detent. You can measure this off a diagnostic tap on the Pressure Reducing Valve...

    Loader Comparisons

Here's another one. 966H vs 744K with lock up converter I'd guess. I for one am impressed with the lock up. Wonder why this older technology hasn't come in force to the loader machines until now? I know Komatsu has it in some models and the 988G/H's do, but it seems to make sense in other size...

    Granite block vs. Cat 988

A 6x7x11 foot granite block = ~39.5 short tons. A 6x6x9 foot granite block = ~27.8 short tons. I can't judge dimensions well from the clip but think the block is something close to the if the person in the frame is ~ 6 feet tall.

    Float on JD544J

Float or Return to Carry? Return to Carry is in the SSM as G Model says. If the LED for the button is on, RTC is on. If you put the boom in the position you want it in and then hold the RTC button until it beeps, you can set it wherever you wish. If you are talking about float, push the boom...

    JD 644J Blown Turbocharger

I've crawled over, under and in enough loaders that LoaderMonkey seemed appropriate. I haven't heard of too many turbo issues with Deere loaders but was interested to hear about this one. The new Kseries has an "auto-shutdown" feature that idles the engine for a minimum of 1 minute before...

    JD 644J Blown Turbocharger

Is it a 644J with an 8.1liter or 6.8liter engine. They had both engines during the life of the Jseries I think.
