    I've been fix'n a HOUGH a model HA or H25

HOUGH + V-plow vs Snow = FUN! I had a wild idea... try a v-plow on the Hough HA. A little rigging with straps and an old heavy pallet between the bucket and the plow and I was plowing! I will definitely plan a real steel link up to build for later use. That would be a "bucket off and plow with...

Hough 65C. Having trouble getting brake drum off

I have two port-a-power sets and yet to get mine loose. But I am expecting to make a thread into hub type puller much like the harmonic pulley pullers for engines. In the mean time I'm just leaving that nut loose hoping the stubborn thing will work loose while I'm driving it.

    I've been fix'n a HOUGH a model HA or H25

Hi again, finally ,,, right? I have been way too busy and my hough HA has been busy too. Today I'll be adding a little oil to the hydraulics resevoir, she's getting low enough to draw air now and then especially when cold and cylinders are extended. Back about the time in my postings where I...

    1959 Michigan 75 A

Hey, that's a great machine. I just took a quick look at this thread and at first thought I believed you had found the exact machine my neighbor sold at auction this spring. But not likely unless yours had been from minnesota... that's where I live. If I recall correctly,?? my neighbor's...

Hough 65C. Having trouble getting brake drum off

I am not sure how your 65C is designed but I have a Hough HA about year 1954-55 and I have one hub/drum easily pulling off and the other is stuck incredibly tight! I loosened the 2-3/8 inch retaining nut on the axel and have opperated it for hours of hard use expecting it to work loose during...

    Hough HM Payloader

I'd have say I've found some pride in owning a HOUGH HA that is a 4cyl waukesha model FC gas. It has served me very well given what I've invested into her. I have posted in the old iron forum here so you could find pics and all that here if you're curious. I would have to agree that the design...

Anyone successful at electroplating zinc, chrome, brass, copper,,on restoration work?

Since I've been attempting soo many restoration projects I am constantly wishing to re-plate or initially plate replacement parts for my restoration projects. I like galvanized type plating because it seems to have great corrosion protection for the metal underneath it. I have tried...

    I've been fix'n a HOUGH a model HA or H25

update on my hough HA So I guess it's been a while since I've been here; that is mostly because I'm a dad for the first time and at eight months now he's such a joy to us! So my old hough is not first place as far as my time priorities, probably never was though. I did get some things done...

    How's this for a project...?

Here is a picture of where the thermistat hides in my HA. Right between the pump outlet and the radiator. I'd think you could find one similar to this in automotive restoration suppliers or build one with some plumbing hardware and the right tools. I know that a 94 ford escort 1.9liter...

    How's this for a project...?

I believe the thermistat is in a brass unit in the middle of the top radiator hose of mine. I could post a pic of it if needed.

    How's this for a project...?

I had to replace one of the rims on mine. I found a 16inch lockbead rim from a 3/4 ton pickup an (8-hole) it was right width but set out about 3/8inch further. I drilled out the rivets of that rim and removed the mid portion, welded the holes shut and some blocks to keep it from spinning like...

    How's this for a project...?

Ah, that was a bargain indeed! I showed my dear wife this mention of yours and it has further proven to her that my Hough is truely worth the 500 bucks "we" paid for it. Gotta say if I had the money and my Hough needed the engine, a ready to assemble engine would be a bargain at one grand...

    Lorain.

:usa I did find a picture of this beast and it brought back memories when I found this picture of it at the end of our driveway. Had just used it to push a lot of burr oak limbs and logs out of the yard after trimming out and removing a few of the big oaks. Not many of these machines out there...

the hough clutch here are some pics of what my hough's clutch release bearing assembly looks like when the access cover is removed from the bell housing. Thinking these will help some of the questions about the clutch/torque converter system used in these HA's. :)

    Hough shifting and ID problems

Find info in PayLine I heard the other guys in the old iron forums mention a book titled PayLine as a sure help on hough payloaders identification. I found this same book in the public library and it helped me figure out the similar ?'s that I had about my Hough HA payloader. Hope you can find...

    How's this for a project...?

When I had to replace the rear tire on mine it was a 9inch rim so I couldn't find that size. My choice ended up to be enlarging the rim center hole of a standard trailer rim and grinding a smidge of metal off the corner of the spindle to allow clearance for the wider rim. That allowed the 8inch...

The steering tire and a bucket modification This is small flap-door that allows me to insert bars through the bucket to make a simple primitive forklift alteration in seconds. There is one on each side. The flaps stay shut whenever moving dirt or sand or snow. :)
