The old cat 988b clearing land for new fencelines on the cattle station in Australia.

Actually it would be a better fitted with a 30 foot stickrake blade for this job. Would be done in no time at all.

G'day all. I am getting more tourque converter slippage lately than usual. I have heard that there is there a way to retrieve some torque by adding a shim to the converter clutch control valve at the end of the variable torque lever cable. Is there anyone here thhat has done this ? Thanks in...

    Building a new fence.

Glad you guys like the video ( first vid with new gopro ). We would cut the posts first thing, sight the line & mark every post hole, dig and stand the posts then strain up and tie off. Build any gateways into the fence and hang rails under the fence in any floodways. With this steady pace we...

    Building a new fence.

working on building a new paddock for the cattle. Fence is only 2.5 mile long. We cut the posts here on the property. Gidgee is a very hard timber and will make the fence last about 80 years on average. Tractor is a Fordson Major that keeps snapping the cam-shaft ( has snapped 3 so far )

Yes there are a couple of areas of Australia that enough rain falls to do 2-4 acres/cow, but most of Australia is very dry climate. A lot of the ' dry climate ' improved pasture beef production areas can average around 10-20 acres / cow, but on this property we are not allowed to make those...

Yes an Endloader is a ' Jack of all trades ' type of machine once it gets purchased by someone on a cattle operation.

The old cat 988b clearing land for new fencelines on the cattle station in Australia.

In this part of Australia we get rain on and off at the start of the year from Jan - end of march ( wet season ) then its common to go 5-8 months at a time with no rain so things get quite dry. All the woody vegitation that grow here is well adapted to dry climate and can go years without much...

Yes I imagine thats how the windscreen glass was broken by a previous owner. If you just let her roll into a tree, the sheer weight causes the tree to explode with limbs and bits of wood coming down over the cab. If I were to do a lot of this kind of work with it, I would try to get a 25 foot...

I thought for a moment it was going to work.... but no show. By the looks of it I think the hydraulic tank side steer ram might be able to be re-sealed with it still pinned. The hydraulic oil tank looks far enough out to pull the rod past the front end.

    Cat 988B heating issue

I tried to get the rod out with the machine articulated all the way but it was still about 4-6 inches too close to get the piston out of the cylinder. The fuel tank stops the cylinder from being pulled out enough.

    Cat 988B heating issue

Just an update on the steering cylinder repair : Used a 20 ton bottle jack to remove the pins out. Didnt need to flog the lugs with a hammer, they just popped out. Front one took almost all 20 tons of pressure before it popped loose though. Found out the fuel tank side rod/piston cannot be...

Thanks for that info Cmark 1. Now that you mention it I didn't actually check if the weep is engine oil or diesel. I saw it and assumed it was diesel so will check to make sure. The engine runs fine so it might be engine oil getting through the rocker cover seals. By " injection line clamps "...

    Cat 988B heating issue

I just noticed that 2 injector lines have started weeping a little down the outside of the rocker covers on the 3408 engine. The two injecter lines have a little movement at the rocker cover when I push/pull them. ( no movement in the others ) I put a spanner on them but they are tight...
