    Komatsu 6d105-1 torque figures

Has anyone got the torque specs for the 6D105-1 engine? I only need the main and big end values, to put new shells in.

Final drive drain plugs warn smooth... how to drain fluid?

I'd like to fit new plugs there, or do a decent job of welding a nut on for future removal. I'd weld a little something onto the case so the new or repaired plug is protected from wear/rocks.

Need to make engine run hotter. Ideas?

Sounds to me like the thermostat could be letting water past? Really it shouldn't make much difference how big the cooling system is if the thermostat is blocking it off until the desired temperature is reached. Is it a low temperature one, they can vary a bit?

    Cat 951-C in my sights

Very nasty, good luck with the recovery

    1973 case 450c

This is exactly why you need to give a machine a couple of hours work before you can say that it's any good. Anything with a torque converter, powershift or hydrostatic is relying on oil to drive it and when it's up to full temperature and the oil is thin you get more leakage (both internal and...

    1973 case 450c

I'm not quite as pessimistic as they're nice machines (or maybe I just have a soft spot having one myself). But there are things to consider. Firstly, the tracks. One of - if not the biggest - thing to factor in because the cost of new ones is eye watering, and difficult to get (at least it is...

OOPs - Crap Where does this wire go? What size is this fitting?

I'd say the one with a single wire with a blue crimp must be some sort of pressure/temp switch, and I'm wondering if the other electrical device is a solenoid, such as for a return to dig feature?

Case 550 Dozer Track Wear Measurement - Problem Working Sidehills

Lubricated tracks (at least the ones I've seen) have what looks a bit like a grease nipple in the pin centre that they use for putting the oil in. Check the inner side of the link as well as the outside, but I'm pretty sure from your description that they're dry and pretty much worn out. As to...

Case 550 Dozer Track Wear Measurement - Problem Working Sidehills

Does your manual tell you how to measure internal pin wear - that's what I'd be looking at to see if it's allowing the track to snake sideways.

Case 580B - Diesel in Engine Oil [FRUSTRATED!]

Long time since I had anything to do with these, do they have a lift pump that's driven off the cam? If so that would be a likely source.

    Jump Starter Pack

The little lithium units are quite amazing, but from what I've seen of them so far tractors/heavy plant are too much for them. You need a decent jump pack with one or two batteries inside it to get the real work done. New batteries are sometimes the way forward if yours is tired, you'll find...

I find this sort very useful, fits just about everything...

    Case 450 3056051

Yes, this is very important! Some 'fitters' think you can just install pumps dry, bolt everything up, start the engine and expect everything to work okay at full load straight away. It's crucial to get it well lubricated before turning it over.

    Case 450 3056051

I think the suggestion to pressurise the system with an airline would just be to force oil to the pump inlet to see if it primes, doing so would get round any air leaks in the suction line. To test a pump properly does require testing the flow while also causing a restriction to have it at the...

    Case 450 3056051

Well if there's absolutely nothing coming out of the pump then that confirms that there is no point in looking at anything else in the transmission at the moment. The only possible reasons for the pump not giving any oil are: Bad pump Pump not turning Suction line issue Just to double check...

    Case 450 3056051

I really would start by pulling the outlet pipe from the pump or removing the trans filter and starting the engine. If it gushes oil out like it should go from there, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's producing nothing then you know more or less where the problem is. Crude method and...

    Case 450 3056051

I think I'd be looking at the charge pump side of things before going in any further - check you've got an oil supply rather than looking into all the various ways that oil could be leaking, that seems to be working at the problem from the wrong end. If you remove the outlet pipe from the...

    Case 450 3056051

Generally with gear pumps the issue is clearance between the gear faces and the pump body, allowing oil to leak down the side of the gears. Fitting new seals can often finish tired pumps off because it increases the gap. I find small pumps often aren't worth the trouble of trying to fix, but...

New to me Case 450C Dozer

Well it's hard to say for sure without being there to have a go in it, but I suspect you need to ease off the revs a little - changing both tracks from low to high or going for a sharp turn while pushing with the machine does feel a bit savage and where possible I try to avoid it, mostly you can...

    953c bucket

How about an alternative method. Tractor loaders usually have a valve fitted which when energised diverts the oil from the crowd mechanism to the third service. The idea is that you have a button on the joystick and you don't really need to tilt the implement at the same time as working the...
