    Cat D6C track problems

With 6000 machines built, it would seem there would be a set of manuals floating around somewhere a person was done with and would like to unload. Seems odd that the 76A model is the one that's the rarest.

    Cat D6C track problems

I didn't notice that Nige, I gave the link because of all the books in the listing thinking there may be one in the complete listing if the OP looked through them all. But good catch on the one in the primary listing.

    Cat D6C track problems

I have a D6C with the serial# 76A5579 I'm told it was manufactured in1968. When you do decide to look for parts for yours, if you go CAT you'll need to be sure and tell the parts slingers to look up your serial number/parts in the Legacy Book, otherwise you'll not be getting numbers/parts for...

Anyone interested in a good running 48a D7E with 3 blades?

What was Cats estimate for them to come finish the repair?

    DIY window screens?

I guess I missed the boat here, are we talking about screening in the entire enclosure on the machine in question? or just mimicking the standard forestry package that most dozers can have included in the factory build? If we are talking the standard rear and side screens that cover the rear...

    DIY window screens?

I suppose OSHA may frown on drilling holes in the columns, but in my opinion making metal framework and bolting them on (filling the bolt holes and adding rigidity) would actually improve the strength of the structure. I'm no engineer though, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night.

Found a good "JD Yellow" paint source

I paint my JD's with School bus yellow, its a good match for the older Deere yellow..I buy it at Tractor Supply for $50.00 bucks a gallon there abouts, and the hardener comes in pints if IIRC and a fraction of the gallon prices. It works well but I never tried to match the old paint, I paint the...

Case 850B won't move when outside temps are under freezing

When you get to be our age(s) I'm 68....sometimes it's going to be better to just hire the mechanic work done.... We ain't kids anymore. Just saying. I know it's a money thing but at what point are we saving money If we are shortening our lives. I hope you figure this out without too much...

    John Deere 450C transmission issues

Not that easy to find huh? JD seems to be that way long before their useful life has ended.

    John Deere 450C transmission issues

Sounds like your pump may be getting worn to the point of bypassing, more so when the fluid gets warm. I've had three JD450's, a B, a C and now have an E...all three have the HLR transmission. I've had very little issues with any of the three, pressure's mostly and fixed with adjustment usually...

    Should I rent or buy?

Hahaha, yeah I know.....I was bring a bit sarcastic...in a joking way. Can you forgive me this time? I can think of just as many reason to not buy a used dozer as I can to buy one.

I thought he was talking used bulldozers here

    Should I rent or buy?

For someone to give an somewhat accurate quote here with what info you've provided is... imho, impossible. The best thing you could do is get a contractor(s) local to the area to actually come to the property, walk it with you and see the work, material and equipment/time involved for the...

    parts availability for D6C

Nice looking machine...with those hours it must have been an US Forest Service machine or something like that maybe? The enclosed/screened in cab makes me say that.

    2023 CATd3 tracks to tight.

If you release too much and need to add grease, just do it a pump or two or three at a time, moving the machine back and forth each time...if you pump it until it looks right without moving it, when you do move it's likely going to be too tight again. At least that's been my experience on ALL of...

    parts availability for D6C

From my experience with CAT they should have about anything you could think of for a 10K machine somewhere in their vast component system. As for the small insignificant items like sheet metal and such maybe not so much, but anything the machine would need to make it operable they would likely...

    Hauling dozer

Your F650 has far better braking ability even with the hydraulic brakes than a 1 ton Dodge with disc brakes, which are also hydraulically actuated.

    Gray Market Give Away

My 1994 CAT 307 excavator probably doesn't fit into this conversation being as old as it is and there isn't much in the way of emissions rules governing it but was manufactured in Japan, it is classified as a "grey market" machine by my CAT dealer and isn't in their system. However they DO...
