This is a great site and I recommend it to every motor-grader operator. http://articles.directorym.net/Using_All_of_a_Motor_Graders_Features-a941620.html

    Motor-Grading Techniques

Thanks for that compliment. The only problem I have with motor-graders is that finding where grade from the cab and knowing if I am on it. Any tips on that?

    Dozers with Wings

I agree it is kinda a sloppy job. It looks like there are some people watching him so maybe he is just trying it out. If so he probably doesn't have much experience. Just because someone has the GPS or lazer doesn't mean the operator is good. You still have to know how to grade.

    Motor-Grading Techniques

Thanks. I just thought that since I had not gotten any replies lately that what I said about back dragging had gotten some people mad. Sorry for the hick-up, Carry On.

    Motor-Grading Techniques

Remember I am not a PRO by any means, But I don't do much back-dragging simply because I do better when I am grading frontward. I can't seem to get a good feel for where the edge of my blade is at when I am going backwards. It is not recommended for anyone around where I work to back-drag on a...

    Motor-Grading Techniques

I figured that I would open a Thread so that we could share what all tricks there were to it. I don't normally have a bunch of time to try different things on the Graders so I was looking for somethings that maybe could help us out. I have figured out over the time that I have been doing it that...

    A few TC12 pics.

You probably don't have a single thing on that machine that breaks. The older the dozers are, the better it seems they were built.

    Grain storage Demo

Looks like kinda a small machine to be doing that kind of work.

Hitachi EX 1200-5 with Genesis GXP 2500R shear from Beelen

    Nice! Those are huge machines!

    Cat Definitely.

Who has hit a cab or light with bucket?

I've hit the tracks on the Hitachi's a few times. Partly because our company modifies the teeth and the buckets. No Harm Done to the machine.

    Other dozer models

D5K from Cat would be a pretty good idea. Great machines, if you need a smaller one D4K and a bigger option would be D6K.

    Tire psi?

35 PSI In both front and back. Cat 416.

    Buying a used dozer

Out of those three the D5G Looks Best. I am very impressed with the Cat dozers. Very low maintenance. The LGP need is going to be based on what type of material you will be working on most.

    Zero Tail swing

Not make them stick out more than 6 or 8'' 's!

    Cat F-N-R Switch

Thanks for the answer. I like the one in the Volvo's and just wanted to see if the cats have it.

    what loader would be best

I am a big fan of the Volvo Mini Loaders. The little 35's and 45's they will load a truck all day long, fast, and versatile. Good for anything from yard work to stock piles.

    Tracks

If you have a water truck anywhere around get him to spray them out with his hose.
