    Help with Pile Cap weights

Just the one. An early 70's vintage ex-military 20 ton P&H truck mounted. Hardly used. A couple hundred hours on both the carrier and the crane. Been a real hoot getting it back into service. It had sat around for quite a while before I saved it from the scrap yard. TDF

    Help with Pile Cap weights

Thanks guys, that gets me a lot closer than where I was just guessing. Have no idea how they're going to be shipped. Buyer is looking into shipping options now, and even considering coming and picking them up himself, though we're a thousand miles apart. He's just wanting some approximate...

    Help with Pile Cap weights

Anybody got a feel for what pile caps weigh? I have a couple I need to ship, and trying to come up with an approximate weight without throwing them in the truck and driving around until I find an unattended scale. The one with 4 guide slots measures (outside dimensions) 24"x24"x10" and has 19"...

    Wire rope wedge for P&H

Haven't found a data plate anywhere with an origin on it. The plate on the side of the crane says Harnischfeger Corp. and has a date of 6-71. But not origin. Haven't found a data plate on the carrier. TDF

    Wire rope wedge for P&H

Brakes on the drums are great, little to no wear on anything, and all free and working. A couple of the master cylinders on the lever's are weeping a little bit, but hopefully they will soften up and seal up with fluid in there now, but if they don't I'll rebuild them. The hydraulics in the...

    Wire rope wedge for P&H

Thanks BobCatBob. Here's a couple pics of it. First is as bought. It weighs 60k, and I needed to drive it 50 miles to my farm, so had to strip it down to get it light enough to be legal with out permits. In the stripped pic I think it weighs about 47k. Spent half a summer on it fixing air...

    Wire rope wedge for P&H

Thank you sir that is very helpful. The manuals I have for the old girl show going as big as 3/4 rope on her so I think it will work but I will do some checking. All that being said, now I'm thinking I'll go 1/2 inch instead. I got the original military clam with the crane off the auction and...

    Wire rope wedge for P&H

Here's the 5/8 wedge from the rear winch. Like I said if anybody knows a place to look to come up with another of these to replace the missing one in the front winch, I'd sure appreciate it. Thanks, TDF

    Wire rope wedge for P&H

Hi all been going meticulously through the 1971 exmilitary P&H 20 ton I bought a year ago. She hadn't been ran in many years but is super low hours. About 200 on both crane and carrier. Stripped it down got the carrier running good and drove it the 50 miles home. Spent a bunch of time going...

    Wrecking Ball

Good to know. Thanks. If I do use one for demo, I'll be dropping it with an old P&H crane so might work pretty well. TDF

    Wrecking Ball

What's the opinion on pile driver drop hammers for wrecking balls? I just bought two trailer loads of stuff and included are 3 pile driver drop hammers. Not quite sure on weight yet but they sure put a squat in the trailer when we set them on there. Maybe 2 or 3k lbs for the bigger one. I...

    1971 P&H 20 ton. M320T2

Has Maxis on the rear axles. If I had any hills to contend with I'd be worried but there isn't much flatter country anywhere, than the middle of Nebraska. I can take gravel roads the whole way home. We'll take it slow and easy. I've already pre driven the route. You have a nice looking...

    1971 P&H 20 ton. M320T2

Could be Tugger2. I was down working on it today and looked at the hour meter in the crane. 188 hours. There is very little wear on anything. This one was in private hands but not sure yet how long he had it. He had another larger military surplus crane that I think he was using more. Got...

    1971 P&H 20 ton. M320T2

Not to worry Tarhe Driver. I'm well versed in the regulations protecting such areas. It's a large part of my regular job. I'm a civil engineer, for the DOT and literally have to deal with environmental issues daily. I should clarify that what I'm calling swamp land is not a swamp at all but...

    1971 P&H 20 ton. M320T2

Ah yes, of course, juice frictions = hydraulic brakes on the crane, that's what it has. Most all of it looks to have seen little use. Haven't looked at the hour meter on the crane yet, but the one in the carrier shows 200 hours and 1600 miles on the odometer. Well now 201, and 1601, after me...

Well I'm a new guy to the crane world so I'm not up on all the lingo yet. Juice frictions? TDF

    1971 P&H 20 ton. M320T2

Hi all. Recently picked up a 1971 P&H 20 ton military crane. Also known as an M320T2. Gotta love military stuff. Was able to download all the old manuals for it for free. Gasser IH 549 V8 in the carrier and, gas burning IH 450 straight six in the crane. 30 ft of boom. Got a 3/4 yr...

The above is at the auction. The extra boom section on the ground was for another crane so I didn't buy that. I did get a 3/4 yd clamshell to go with her. Missed out on the dragline bucket, so I'll be looking for one of those. TDF

Hi all. Found this forum after buying a 20 ton ex military crane last month. Still working on getting the old girl to the farm but getting closer. Been around big equipment most of my life. Dad was a custom harvester when I was a little squirt as was Grandpa and Grandpa also ran a salvage...
