    580E boom bleeding down

You have a piston seal leaking internally in one or both of the cylinders. The way to check it is. Disconnect the cylinder from boom. Disconnect and cap the piston side of cylinder. Next apply pressure to the rod side of cylinder. If the seals are ok it will stall or go to bypass. If the seals...

    Case 580c steering pressure question

When troubleshooting hydraulic pumps the first test should be a flow test, pumps produce flow not pressure, pressure is resistance to flow. Flow test when cold the when warm will tell you pump condition. If it is spec go to the next thing valves ,relief valves ,orbitrols etc.

    580c seat bracket/rails

I am rebuilding a case 580D , my seat and post where garbage. I put a air ride truck seat and a marine boat seat slide. It slides for and aft and swivels on a standard size pipe base. It took a little doing to place it correctly but the air ride is well worth it. Bought a small air compressor on...

    Case 580E steering cylinder disassembly

If you have removed the locking ring or unscrewed the gland nut on any cylinder and can not remove the rod with the gland head do this. Attach a pressure washer to the piston side of cylinder and start it up. Most pressure washer run 1800psi and will hydraulically jack it out. It does not matter...

We use the milwaukee grease guns with the lock and lube end. Great for everything except driveline. Use regular hose end there to hard to get the bigger lock end in u-joint zerks. Thumbs up to schaeffer grease .

    Case 580C backhoe control valve

On my 580D i could not see how to drop the spools out with valve in the machine. I think it is worth taking it out. Easier to pull apart on the bench, Do not mix up spools, the spool is a lap fit item. I like to clean it with mineral spirits, then set it in a cooler with ice. Put the new o'rings...

    Stabilizer ram has knicks (580K)

New rod is better than rechrome. Induction hard chrome is the best, Have not had much luck with rechroming any rods. We have mig welded big gauges and sand them smooth with blending disc. That works till you can replace it.

    Case 580SL blown steering hose

Do not know if this machine is the same as my 580D I resealed the orbital just the shaft seal, but pulled all the fittings out to put new rings on. Realized that 2 of them where restricted by design. Reading the manual, I found out the 2 restricted are for the steering cylinders, Found the...

    Case 580D brakes

Did the entire brake system and made hydraulic hoses instead of steel lines. I bought the master and slave cylinder set up for hydraulic oil , seems better than brake fluid the hoses where far easier than steel tubing. Figured a length then had one crimp on, brought it back routed it marked it...

580C can't fit rebuilt ram into cylinder

Glad you got it, on my 580D all the cylinders had a nice taper machined in them, one of the Grove cranes I have on the boom cylinder there is a machined out grove before the seal gets in the barrel, terrible design. I think it was for clearance for cutting the thread. We ended up filling it with...

    Case 580SL blown steering hose

There are 2 restricted fittings on the steering orbitrol they go to the steering cylinders make sure you did not mix them up, also this is a pass thru orbitrol so fluid from pump passes thru to help power backhoe, or also referred to as power beyond.

    seized up pin

See if you can find somebody with a carbon arc torch, it is not real common, but works well for this. you gauge a hole all the way thru the pin, by the time you finish it is so hot you can drive it out. The material you gauge out gives the pin room to shrink. If it does not come out hot cool it...
