Purchasing skidsteer with high hours idling

Looking for an opinion on purchasing a skidsteer with high hours, over 10,000. It is coming from an oil field and it is in really good condition, pins are tight, no smoke, starts easy, seats not even torn, etc. I know they run them 24x7 in the winter so they don't have to deal with freeze...

Smoking after tipping forward - Bobcat 863G

Bad news....... The smoke seemed to clear out and I was going to update that everything was fine and then last night it threw a rod on the #3 cylinder. Anyone know where to get a long block Deutz 1011 in the Northwest?

Smoking after tipping forward - Bobcat 863G

I hope that is all. I pulled the intake boots off the turbo and just a little oil residue and turbo was still tight. I hear the head gaskets are prone to failure but I think that would be much more smoke and running rough.

Smoking after tipping forward - Bobcat 863G

Borrowed my 863 out and my friend tipped it forward on a hill with a full bucket. I checked the oil and it was only down maybe a half quart. When I went to load it on the trailer it was smoking blue pretty good but cleared up for the most part after it ran for a while and warmed up. A few...

Bobcat 863G drive motors freewheel on any incline

Finally fixed this. Long story short their is a makeup solenoid valve that opens for high speed operation. The spool was broken internally and stuck open leaving the drive motors in a bypass state. For now I just capped all the hoses and disabled the two speed while I order a new spool.

Bobcat 863G drive motors freewheel on any incline

That was my thoughts and experience with single speed drives as well. The two-speed drive has no hydro-static braking by design so it actually has a brake section that resembles a transmission clutch pack. it is controlled electrically and released via the micro switches on the control arms...

    Deutz 1011 block heater location

I just ordered a block heater for my oil cooled Deutz 1011 in a Bobcat 863G. Does anyone know where this gets screwed into the block? A picture would be great.

Bobcat 863G drive motors freewheel on any incline

After reading through the service manual several times I think I found the issue. The two-speed drive uses a spring actuated brake within the drive motor for the parking brake. It is released via a solenoid that applies hydraulic pressure. Once I figured this out I went to check the solenoid...

Bobcat 863G drive motors freewheel on any incline

I just picked up an 863G with 2-speed. Trying to figure out where to start with the drive system. When operating on an incline there is no hydrostatic holdback. It rolls like it is in neutral on any incline as well as having jerky engagement of the drive. Fluid is full and bucket operates...

New to me 86' Case 580E - Where to begin

I recently purchased a low hour (1780) Case backhoe from my work. It was actually the first backhoe I ever ran as an apprentice. It has been mostly sitting in the yard for the past 20 years. Came with 3 hoe buckets as an added bonus including a frost bucket. First order is replacing the...
