Cat D7F hydraulic oil into final drive casing?

Hey guys thanks so much for taking the time to offer input. Turns out the hydraulic leak was a tilt ram hose that came up inside the dozer arm and crossed over into the machine just in front of the drive sprocket. It was hidden under a beat up cover that I finally removed. I got caught up in...

Cat D7F hydraulic oil into final drive casing?

Hi Guys, is it possible for hydraulic oil to enter the final drive cases on a D7F (94n series)? I have a bad hydraulic oil leak that I cannot find. I have removed the floor plates and cannot see any leaks in the body of the dozer. The leak is coming from the inside of the right drive...

Somebody used my 210 and broke it!

If you know the guy is one thing if not then I would call the cops. This guy has no respect for others. Would he have mentioned he was using your rig if he had not broken it?

Which technique is easier on excavator?

Yes, I mostly dig over the front of the machine. When trenching or if I can otherwise set up to dig over the front then I do so. When I am in tight areas or working both directions I won't hesitate to dig over the drive sprockets. Rarely will you see me go to the effort of turning my...

    Motor-Grading Techniques

Would this be possible on a 140 G? With my luck I would get it about halfway and be stuck there! Thanks for taking the time to show the process.

    Rear ripper or front scafire

Never tried a front scarifier, they look kinda goofy to me! My uneducated vote went to the rear.

Which technique is easier on excavator?

Just to clarify, if my work on a steep slope was mostly above me I would be blade uphill and firmly on the ground without lifting the machine. If my work was mostly below me on a steep slope I would be blade downhill with the blade in the dirt but still not lifting the tracks off the ground.

Which technique is easier on excavator?

Hey countrylad, let us know how it went and what you ended up doing. If I were digging a trench up a slope I would have my blade downhill and in the dirt to hold me. Pretty much anything else on a slope I would be blade uphill, especially on 3:1 or steeper. Use caution when "slewing...

Thanks for the tips . . . need more

Yes on the water truck and roller. What a pain it is trying to grade without them, a guy can wheel roll all day long and still no comparison. I do think overall though for the money he has into this driveway that all the choices he made were smart. A water truck, roller, culverts and more...

Which technique is easier on excavator?

Hi Countrylad, I usually keep the blade uphill and try to stay perpendicular to the slope for stability and to be easier on the machine.

Thanks for the tips . . . need more

Grader4me, I probably have around 1500 hrs on grader but it has been on and off over the last 30 years. I always jump on one any chance I get. Mostly so far has been haul road maintainence for off road trucks. The owner likes the excessive crown and he and his wife promised me they will...

Thanks for the tips . . . need more

Ended up with an average of about 9% cross slope with the rock. Probably about 6 to 7% on the subgrade. It's a little extreme for crown but I am thinking with all the snow we have been getting it will shed water that much better and take longer to flatten out. You guys in heavy snow/water...
