    Detroit Diesel Guru's Needed

I put in the n55’s. Changed hold down clamps, fuel lines, the control tubes and rods. Engines run great. And believe me I know it would have been better and less expensive to just buy hv’s. But at a certain point I have to do what the bosses want. It’s their equipment.

    Detroit Diesel Guru's Needed

We had them on hand and that's what my boss wanted, so they didn't have to buy any.

    Detroit Diesel Guru's Needed

I have two 6-71's that I'm trying to get running on a tug. One is 1063-5100 and the other only says 6A48 700. The engines got water in the fuel system, and siezed the HV6 injectors that were in there. We had N55's on hand, along with the hold downs, bolts ect. I also had the newer style control...

    Allis Chalmers brakes not working

I bled both sides twice today. I didn’t see any air.

    Allis Chalmers brakes not working

I should clarify that the brake pedal is soft, but gets hard after it is pumped a few times.

Thank you. I’ve never done on of these before.

    Allis Chalmers brakes not working

So if I leave the shoes set in, shouldn’t they self adjust as the pedal is pumped?

    Allis Chalmers brakes not working

So the sliding bar is used to set the shoe spacing in place of a star adjuster wheel? It has pneumatic tires. It is a ACP50K

    Allis Chalmers brakes not working

Just put on new shoes and machined the drum surface. The brakes still barely work. They have the slide bar adjuster. Anyone know how this is supposed to be adjusted?

Help adjusting droop on John Deere 4045

Counting 7 coils on the end of the knob, the droop screw is out as far as it will go if I have it correct.

Would the knob be the black piece in the middle of the spring?

Help adjusting droop on John Deere 4045

Ok. Here’s what I see when I open the cover. I didn’t see the internal screw unless I’m missing it.

You are right. I meant full electronic engines. But they come with their own problems. This one does have a 12v solenoid on the injection pump. It has one switch. Flip up, it cranks and then runs by itself with a Murphy shutdown system.

Help adjusting droop on John Deere 4045

I could easily swap out the pump and send it to a pump shop to get fixed. I’m trying to learn as much as I can. I’m the only mechanic here, and for the industry I’m in I’m young. All of the older guys have retired. There’s really no one left here knows about this, plus I work on 330, 311...

Help adjusting droop on John Deere 4045

Thank you for the answer. Yes it is mechanical. I wish we had electronic engines here. I think I understand. Droop controls how sensitive the governor is to load changes. If I make it too sensitive it will hunt, the rpm will fluctuate to much between 25, 50, 75, 100% and zero load.
