Accommodate disability with skid steer controls

You are exactly right. I offered to sign a waiver, but I think they had plenty of business and really didn't want to tackle something new.

Accommodate disability with skid steer controls

Thank you. I'll go visit the dealers to visit with them. Your knowledge is appreciated.

Accommodate disability with skid steer controls

Surprisingly, all of the dealers I called when I bought and asked about modification to the mini ex bailed due to liability risk, and this was on a new machine. I checked separately with a place that modifies stuff for handicap use and they wanted more than $4,000 to do it. I finally found a...

Accommodate disability with skid steer controls

I want a new skid steer but given the cost, I will probably be looking for a used lower hour model.

Accommodate disability with skid steer controls

I think the electric over hydraulic might be easier depending on the space below the floor board. On my mini ex there was enough space to take the full joystick control and the hydraulic lines under the floor board. Wires leading to the floor mounted joystick would be easier to fit down below if...

Accommodate disability with skid steer controls

I think that makes sense. Travel control by foot controlled by a floor mounted equivalent of a joystick and bucket control with my right hand would be doable.

Accommodate disability with skid steer controls

I'm contemplating buying a skid steer. I don't have a left arm, thus I can't use a left joystick. A Kubota mechanic modified my Kubota KX04-4 mini-excavator moving the joystick controls to the floor. All of the stock hydraulics were used, with only one hose requiring an extension. It works well...

    1994 JD 650G - no 4th gear

Yes I will. It may be a while. I have to wait for the rain to stop so the water well drillers can finish their thing and I can tow their rig up the hill. Then I’ll call for service.

    Thank you to all.

    1994 JD 650G - no 4th gear

Thank you for the elaboration. The serial number of the dozer is T0650GH797180. It doesn’t make any unusual noises when shifted into 4th. In fact, it’s like it is in neutral. The dozer will try to freewheel on a slope. I’m not a mechanic so will have to get the JD service company to do any...

    1994 JD 650G - no 4th gear

Sorry but I don’t understand your post. Should I continue to run it or not?

    1994 JD 650G - no 4th gear

My dozer is a 1994 JD 650G. It quit working in 4th gear. I rarely use 4th and only noticed it the other day when it didn’t move the dozer. I plan to have the local JD service guys take it in to fix it when I can. Right now I need to work it using the lower gears. My question is this; will I...

    Final drive oil level - 1994 JD650G

I bet you’re right. That was a cut and paste from an operator’s manual I found online. Thicker oil at high temps makes a lot more sense.

    Final drive oil level - 1994 JD650G

Yes the Hy-Gard is recommended, but they lost indicate an alternative in the 80W-90. This is from the manual: Depending on the expected air temperature range between oil changes, use oil viscosity shown on the chart above. Arctic oils (such as Military Specifications MIL-L-46167B) John Deere...

    Final drive oil level - 1994 JD650G

Just to close the thread, it is full when it oozes out after the plug is full. The correct oil is 80w - 90w gear oil per the dealer.

    Final drive oil level - 1994 JD650G

I need to check the final drive gear oil on my 1994 John Deere 650G. I see a big plug with a 1/2” drive square in the middle. The plug is on the opposite side of the track and is to the far rear of the machine. I used a breaker bar and pulled the plugs. I’m assuming it’s like the differential...

    Bucket and hydraulic thumb coordination

Thank you. I value your information. I am in the situation where I have to use the tool I have available. I’ll do the best I can to not abuse the relief valves. I wish I had a Selecta Grab but I don’t. Thanks again.

    Bucket and hydraulic thumb coordination

Yes. I bought the insurance. I accidentally overstated the weight per rock just now. I got 14.1 tons delivered and they came on 8 pallets with about 4 rocks each, so the rocks would average around 450 lbs. There are some that are a lot bigger and some that are smaller. At any rate the wall is...

    Its a 2018 model.

    Bucket and hydraulic thumb coordination

I am sure trying not to do it. It doesn't happen too often because I try to position my machine before grabbing on. I'm getting ready to build a stone wall with 1,500 lb rocks and worried about dropping one because of losing thumb pressure.
