    Peterbuilt noise...

Ride height is correct and stable.

    Peterbuilt noise...

Not yet. I did drag a 10t loader on a 5t trailer with 5t in the box... no noise. So it seems to be a box load weigh caused issue, not a gvw issue.

    Peterbuilt noise...

It also stops when I push the clutch in or take it out of gear.

    Peterbuilt noise...

Whenever I have issues i just can't pin down... I always come to the guys that I know have the most experience! This Pete has a Cummins ISX15 425ST with Eaton Fuller 10 speed, dump truck. Empty, she runs great. Full, I get this noise when going down grade off throttle, and only in top gear...

    Gannon repair fail

There is a piece of rebar welded under the lip to keep the hook from moving. We used to hook the cross member, and the lowbed driver liked this idea better. The back blade is sitting on the deck too... the box is bent, broken and welded back shut. It looks like someone tried to demo a block...

    Gannon repair fail

It has a piece of rebar welded under the lip to keep the hook in place. Using the D ring bends the chain around the tire or box. This was our low bed driver's solution so he could use our shorter chains. I agreed with you when he did this... but I actually have to hit those hooks with steel...

    Gannon repair fail

Yep. I set the Gannon down as close to flat as this well bent Gannon gets. It should be about 1/2" to 1" above the trailer and flat

    Gannon repair fail

They are fine for anything up to a cat 450 backhoe. If they fail, it is operator error. 20 years, I've never had one fail on me. To each their own... Our screws are all rusted because the biggest think we haul is ~35k, maybe a hand full of times a year. I will happily mock anyone that uses...

    Gannon repair fail

Lol, a bit overkill to put screws to a 22,000 lbs machine.

    I can't... I just don't understand...

Deere skip for paving needs sprayer

Thanks for the part tip. That looks much better than the ones I've been looking at.

Deere skip for paving needs sprayer

I need advice on the best/safest way to plumb a diesel sprayer into the fuel system. I don't have experience with the fuel systems on diesels, so I don't know the pressures involved in the plumbing. Am I correct that it's just a suction line, so I'll need to install and plumb a spray down pump...

    Cold planer speed?

I think you are right. I'm guessing that these guys are talking about the old days when they didn't have high flow systems. I just haven't seen anything and was curious about the hearsay. I think the other operator just doesn't get it, and when he gets bored, he does bad things, like try to...

    Cold planer speed?

So, long story, but I will try to keep it short. I run with no creep so I can feel the grinder better. The other operator runs creep. More often than not, on long lines he will ride up trying to push it too fast. Well, let's just say every large area has to be ground twice, maybe 3 times...

    Cold planer speed?

I've heard stories from the older guys that they used to modify the cold planers to spin faster. We run a cat 262 with a cat 18" cold planer. I don't think it would hurt to have less torque if it spun faster. I feel our travel speed isn't limited by torque, but by the size of bite the teeth...

    Leeboy 1000t Wilson electrical

Well, I just talked my boss into getting a battery disconnect so we dont have it on the battery all the time. I had to tell him(which was true) that I had a conversation with the old mechanic and his leeboy expert consultant who told me the wiring wasnt right in order to at least put a battery...

    Leeboy 1000t Wilson electrical

Hey y'all. It's been a while, but you guys always have the answers. I'm working on an old leeboy with a magneto system. I had to rewire the thing blind, but I want to make sure it is still charging the battery properly. I removed a amp meter(which I'm thinking I should put it back, but I...

What do you like/dislike about your job?

With the random experience I have(almost everything other than dozer, scraper, logging and mining grade), I have to say excavator is the most comfortable with entertainment, and backhoe is the most skilled/entertaining. Front loader and blade are probably the most boring, up there with rollers...

    Boots

I recommend slip on boots to everyone, but idk about high arch..... I have never tried replacing insoles on slip ons as it seems a bad idea. I used to twist my ankles all the time in lace ups. After a year of slip on Georgia's, I never have ankle pain. Brand is a non issue as they have to...
