Wellll, I will take a shot. My opionion anyway. First, merry christmas. Theres a break in the action here and dont know why i came here but here i am. There are many more experienced on this site with a better feel for the economics of moving dirt. I dont know if there is a definitive answer...

    Why does D7G brake grab

I appreciate the reply. The brake grabs with both lever and pedal im pretty sure. Pedal is kinda gumed up from lack of use. Use left to stop rolling so right gets used less and bearings under deck are stiff. I need to do more investigating but i think the linkage for both go to the hydraulic...

    Why does D7G brake grab

Brakes have always been a little touchy when used in conjunction with steering clutches. Would say no different than the other 3 7Gs i've sat. But now the right one seriously grabs when using lever or pedal. It'll literally throw me in the seat when in 1st gear. Looks like right track stops and...

    Grid heater 580sm2

Found it. Finally got around to getting the thing fixed. Just in case anyone is interested or searches for this issue, I'm gonna give some tips. Seems the case engineers thought it a good idea to hide some relays in a small remote area between the rear engine firewall and the cab. One relay is...

    Grid heater 580sm2

Thanks Coy, Been blinking for weeks, just getting around to fixin it, always worked before. 30 seconds seems bout right when it worked....used to cycle 2 times when it was cold....maybe that was a mistake. Your right when it's warm light don't illuminate....or in my case, blink. Heck I aint...

    Grid heater 580sm2

Don't seem to have power to grid heater according to test light. Relays aren't labeled well. Switched around some of the "power" relays. Fuses good. Dash light I think used to come on and stay on for a while depending upon outside temp. then go off when ready to start. Now dash light blinks...

    Help me with 580sm series 2 electrical/hydraulic

Oh I almost can't wait for the thing to fail again so I can fix it.....almost. I enjoy a challenge but this has been frustrating cause its so intermittent. The thing worked perfect all day and will probably not fail for quite some time again...who knows. I enjoy learning from more experienced...

    Help me with 580sm series 2 electrical/hydraulic

Oh you guys are awesome. So is this site. Your right I left out some info fpgm04. We do have pilot controls as well as auxillary (one way?) hydraulics to the rear. I do not have a service manual but have a print out of the pages describing the magic box with led. The light is doing the proper...

    Help me with 580sm series 2 electrical/hydraulic

The machine has me baffled. Extendahoe and outriggers will on occasion fail to operate simultaneously. All other functions of the machine work properly at the time of failure. I've crawled all over and mostly under the thing cleaning connections and checking wires. Would someone happen to know...

    grading a driveway

Ah the mightaswells. We always referred to that kind of work as "sensuous" work. The neighbor always showed up when you were about done and says "Sensuous in the area I thought you might want to come over and clear a short fencerow for me." Then when your about done with that he would say...

New seat & seat assembly needed

May seem trivial to some of you but my body just won't take it anymore. Would like to avoid another back surgery. Specifically we are in need of something for an open station D7G at this time. That means vinyl I assume. Don't care if its air or not just need something comfortable with a little...

    Terrace project

I'm impressed. A few variations in soil colors on that lower fill kinda reminds me of home. Don't forget that seeding. Bet its been a challenge with all the rain until the last week. I commend anyone who does any type of conservation work. Again, nice work and thanks for the photos. Jeff

    business proposition good or bad

Another thought After reading CM1995's post I would agree he may be full of hot air and completely incapable of all that he promises. It may be all empty promises of large projects and lots of dollars in order to get to the top of the list to get just a couple projects done this fall. The...

    business proposition good or bad

Hi Randy, Times are indeed changing in farm country. Many young bto's never farmed through the 80's. In my opionion we are in an equivalent of the early 70's and everything cycles. You are certainly right to be cautious. I would approach this from a couple different business angles so as to...

    Terrace project

3' "top" and hints I had the following all typed up once and lost it. I guess I better type faster. Thats frustrating. Its hard for some people to put things into words & with no disrespect intended I think that may be happening with some of Constructo's comments. I on the other hand am too...

    Terrace project

Your doing just fine K6c10K We appreciate the photos. I"m meticulous & always had to remind myself its just dirt....But it's also somebodys farm & your leaving your mark on it for a lot of years for somebody to try to farm. So keep the farmer in mind when building especially near the...

    Terrace project

NRCS likes to see narrow base terraces built using fill from the back side or down hill side of the terrace. That is the cheapest way since the dirt is close. If this is where you will borrow the dirt then push from the channel down hill far enough to get enough fill to build. Or like RKO's...

    Terrace project

Hi D6c10K Can't sleep tonite ...too wired about getting 1st crop hay made this week and finishing bean planting and spraying. Trying to get 2 months work done in 1 week cause of all the rain here in S. E. Iowa. What a challenge and its the third year in a row for us being wet. We are about a...
