    Cat c7 vs int'l vt365

Definitely agree with BV - go for the C7 - at least the bulk of the problem with them is limited to the fuel system - the VT365's or 6.0 Ford - same engine I think had issues with about every part of them possible - EGR coolers, streching head studs, head gaskets - you name it. Another one of...

Will do, headed down to pick it up this Thursday. Down below Orlando - nothing like a 1000 mile road test to break her in !

    Broke hub spoke

or if what Truck Shop suggests doesn't get any results do a google search for a Webb or Gunite pdf catalog and check in those. You'll need your inner and outer bearing #'s and other dimensions off the hub to ID it but its a pretty straighforward process. At least if you have a Webb or Gunite PN...

Reviews on Stellar Crane Service Bodies

Pulled the trigger last week on a 2015 M-2 Freightliner at an auction. Hope it was the right decision - looked it over and saw more reasons to buy it than not to so we shall see. Has a Summit body and crane on it.

    Broke hub spoke

Ditto all the other guys comments, scrap it. Anybody that want's to skimp on safety has no business being in business. Had the opportunity to disassemble a brake system and measure components (drums for oversize) at the direction of the district attorney's office on a trash truck that the...

    Dump truck insurance rate hike

Thinking about the nuclear verdicts takes me to my favorite lawyer joke. What do you call 10 lawyer's on the bottom of the ocean ? A good start

    Dump truck insurance rate hike

Nuclear verdicts as they are called in the trucking industry. Link to the article and first 2 paragraphs of it below https://www.freightwaves.com/news/werner-verdict-texas-crash A Werner driver was westbound on interstate 20. The pickup truck carrying the family that suffered the fatal and...

Bye bye air bags hello hendrickson walking beams

Interesting reads here, thanks to all that replied. Sounds like at the rate I weld (95% truck mechanic 5% welder) I should have 1/16 of this knowledge base down pat in about 100 years :(. Actually I don't have alot of issues, usually run 7018 on the truck out on the road and mig in the shop -...

Bye bye air bags hello hendrickson walking beams

Welder Dave - While we're on the proper welding techniques discussion - I have a question. Years ago on my cornfield Cadillac of a service truck I couldn't keep my drive springs tight - all the seats and top ubolt brackets and springs were worn pretty bad and it cracked the top face of the...

Yes I was on Maintainer's website earlier and saw one that had the cabinet top mount. Good deal on the warranty on the IMT parts, they are rather pricey - seem to last though.

funwithfuel - just checked out the STI site - never heard of them. I'll have to send them an email and get some more info - or find a local dealer closer to PA. Mike L - I've looked at the Maintainter bodies and cranes but most of them I see have kind of a broke up layout (crane cabinet is...

Reviews on Stellar Crane Service Bodies

Thanks for the words on the Stellar heymccall. So it sounds like my IMT faired as good as the rest corrosion wise, and better bit better since nothing really ever “broke” on it - just rusted out. I guess my biggest fault is I’ve been fixing things to long and am always looking for something...

Reviews on Stellar Crane Service Bodies

Hi folks - I'm in the market to buy (or build) another service truck - probably my last. Anyway back in 03 I bought a new 11' IMT Dominator II crane body along with a 3820 crane and bolted it all to an older IH chassis. Since 03 I had to replace 4 of the doors because of rust at the bottom of...

Case 590 Super N charging problem

Figured it out, center wire on regulator plug supply's voltage to turn regulator on or "excite" alternator, 2 outer wires on plug feed current to tach and hourmeter.

Case 590 Super N charging problem

yeah I just want to be sure before I use the dartboard approach of diagnostics, don't wanna spend $ on a replacement alternator unless I know its bad.

Case 590 Super N charging problem

I have a 2011 Case 590 Super N that's not charging, anybody have a wiring diagram for it by chance ? It has a 120A Iskra alternator on it that has what appears to me to be an external voltage regulator on it. It has a 3 wire plug connected to it that has a 12V hot (to the center terminal of the...

    Cat 307 shutdown issue

Any body have any idea what would make a 307 cat excavator shutdown intermittently? It has an "energize to shut off" style solenoid on it and I'm assuming somewhere in the wiring it has some type of timer or relay to shut it off but ive been unable to locate it. It's definitely an electrical...
