    Dozer vs Track Loader

Yep, flat ground with little slope is what I have.

    Dozer vs Track Loader

I know this isn't what the OP asked, but I have a rubber tire loader and love it. Mine is a Deere 544K on skidder tires, a must for our soft south GA dirt. It's much less expensive and smoother to operate than a track loader (I have a large CTL as well). It's also fast enough that I'll drive...

What to do with old rubber tracks

Pops52 awesome idea. How did you cut them?

    Skid steer land plane

I made a simple one using a steel shipping pallet. Mine works fine. What I learned is if your driveway is indeed dense you might want something to loosen it up some such as scarifier teeth. Mine has no teeth and won't do much on tight gravel.

John Deere K or J series?

I think it's 2012 but let me check before you take that as a good answer.

John Deere K or J series?

I have a 544k, 5300 hours and it's a good machine. Mine has no DEF or particulate filter at all, good old Tier 3. Bought sight unseen from a trusted used machine source and fortunately I've been OK. Thumbs up to Porter Equipment in Perry GA. Nothing for me in this promotion, I'm just a...

    Tree clearing technique?

All good ideas and thanks. Here's what's worked well for me. I'll dig a trench maybe 8-10 feet wide, about 8' deep, and usually 25-30 feet long or so. At one end I'll slope the end at about a 45 degree angle. I put the fan on this sloped end so that it's pointing down into the trench. Start...

    Tree clearing technique?

Hey Treemuncher, what exactly do you mean by "cribbing up?"

    HCEA Big Dig

Visited the HCEA website and it's quite interesting. Is there an HCEA in the US? Or a similar association? In other words, how do I learn about where things like this are happening?

    BOBCAT A300 Joystick Controller Nightmares...

I'm having some trouble on a T770 that may or may not be similar. Can ya'll give me some quick feedback? On the lift function it works sometimes and is hesitant and jerky on others. I notice this mostly when the machine is cold and at low RPM. Usually revving the engine up will solve the...

Bobcat T770 intermittent slow to lift

Having trouble with my T770 lift function. This is intermittent, and it's worse when cold. Seems to be getting more frequent. The lift function gives slow operation. However if it lifts slowly, often I can release the joystick then if I lift again it works normally. Sometimes it may repeat...

    Bobcat T770 with Forestry Cutter/Using V Plow

I have a T770 with forestry door and standard door. I like installing the glass door for any dirt work. The Lexan door has a lot of distortion making it harder to grade. It's not worth the trouble for just a little dirt work though.

I see it as something a schmuck like me pays full Machinery Trader price for and THEN finds out the history!!!!

Deere 544K service manuals needed/flywheel repair

It turns out our problem wasn’t the flywheel but the starter. May double check that if it seems the flywheel is missing teeth. Starter is much easier to access:)

    Battery Powered Equipment

Bet you didn't know I've already charged the car successfully at temps colder than 32. Something in there works fine.

    Battery Powered Equipment

Shimmy your math is right. My Tesla has a 100kW battery pack. I charge it on 208v, it draws 32 amps, and charge time from 5% to 100% charge is around 14 hours. Our power is about 10.6 cents/kWh, so worst case it could cost me $10.60 to travel 300 miles. Fortunately we have solar panels and...

    Battery Powered Equipment

I've owned a Tesla electric car for 2.5 years so far. There are a lot of things about it that are wonderful. It takes being a little open minded to see them. However, my equipment work is mostly land clearing. No real good opportunities to charge anything for me. Charging a pack like on...

    10W-30 oil for hydraulics

So, say a guy had a Deere 544K loader from 2012 that calls for 15W-40 engine oil for hydraulic oil? Do I understand that something labelled a hydraulic oil is a better choice now due to change sin engine oils? Specifically what hydraulic oil would be best in this case? Southern US climate BTW.
