    new to me kx91-3

thanks. yes i agree and will be looking into why it will not fully lock the machine out. it does cut everything else and shuts off the aux but didn’t think it should travel or do anything when locked out.

    new to me kx91-3

but am i correct that it should cut all hydraulics including the drives and blade functions? it only cuts the forward hydraulics. with both levers locked out it will still travel and operate the blade.

ahh. yes that should have come to me sooner for the float function . the old case backhoe has to held forward to float lol i will try that. thanks. the machine functions well enough and does what it’s supposed to do for the most part. im just a little ocd and like things to work. bugs me...

    new to me kx91-3

hi all. recently purchased a kx91-3 ss2. machine works good.runs strong, no leaks and other than the bucket pin it’s pretty tight for a machine with 3000hrs. i have a couple questions i’m hopeful someone on here can help me with. should the machine still travel with both lock out levers...

    case 580ck backhoe valve leak

i had to take the linkage off to get it moving at the beginning. felt like i would bend or break the linkage so i removed it and used a brass hammer and tapped it in and then used a pry bar and the pin thru the hole to pry it back up. was able to get it moving but i wouldn’t say freely. it’s...

    homemade manual thumb

i will have a look for that thanks. once i get the valve leak issue fixed up i’m going to be putting the thumb on the “new” backhoe attachment. it’s currently still welded to the original attachment.

    case 580ck backhoe valve leak

hello to anyone reading this. recently swapped the backhoe on my old machine for one i found that was in much better condition overall. tighter pins and almost no weld repairs evident. what i did find is the control valve has a bit of a leak between the end section on the right side ( when...

    homemade manual thumb

i would have preferred to build it as a hyd thumb but it’s difficult to safely tap into the hydraulics on this old machine. i thought about running it off the bucket cyl but don’t like the idea of not having dedicated control for it and having it move with the bucket. i read some stuff that if...

1968 580 ck hydraulic filter housing

when i was repairing a bunch of issues on my old ck i found the bypass part of the hyd filter was damaged and basically constantly bypassing the filter. had no luck finding a replacement housing so i used a filter from the local hyd shop. uses the spin on type filters. mounted it where the...

    homemade manual thumb

the strut bar is heavy wall seamless pipe, and it is centered between the tines. it attaches to a pair of 3/8 thick brackets welded to a piece of 1in thick x 4in wide flat bar. and is also gusseted for good luck lol. i was concerned it would bend also but it seems to hold strong so far. when...

    homemade manual thumb

pic of it folded up. will be cut off and this beat up old attachment will be stripped down and mostly scrapped out. will keep the cyls for spares or to repurpose somehow. maybe a big log splitter..? the main frame that attaches to the tractor seems like it could be used to make a diff...

    homemade manual thumb

they are quite sharp. i cut them by hand with combination of plasma cutting and zip cut on a grinder. i don’t know the teeth benefit from being sharp. just thought they might grip logs and things better that way. seems after some use it’s more the tips of the tines that hold objects in...

    homemade manual thumb

i have not tried lifting anything more than some brush and sticks without the stabilizers on the ground. i did break a tension rod when unloading the rocks and luckily nothing more serious happened.

    homemade manual thumb

yeah they are very heavy. some of the truckload of stones were too heavy and the relief valve opened up. setting them down real quick lol. was able to get all 40 ton of armour stone off the trailer without damage to the machine or the trailer. i’m going to add another support out closer to the...

difference between case ck backhoe attachments

couple pics of the original hoe for comparison. notice the difference in the stabilizer mount gussets and the diff in the top end of the dipper arm. similar but definitely different. believe both are mod 33 or ??? 36?

difference between case ck backhoe attachments

couple pics of the new to me hoe attached to the machine valve pic is where the leak is that i need to investigate further appears to be from between the sections where the main hose and the first spool join may be running down from spool tho that outrigger spool was stuck and with oil and...

difference between case ck backhoe attachments

well i was able to get the new hoe attached and connected to the old tractor. no sign of a number plate for identification tho. it’s definitely slightly smaller than the original hoe. dipper cyl is about 4 inches longer and maybe half inch bigger diameter. the boom cyl is about an inch or two...

71 580 ck in chassis overhaul

my original loader pin was long gone and was just a piece of bar with bolts holding it in. i believe the proper pin is a long pin with a nut on the end. it has a shoulder the nut stops against and u shim behind the nut to get the desired amount of free play. to answer the question yes. u...

71 580 ck in chassis overhaul

yeah i bet it does. i thought maybe the hoe was still attached and would add the counter weight to help hold the tractor from tipping forward. hopefully someone can chime in on how to do it with the hoe removed. i’m sure with some blocking and or jacking, as far forward as u can get and...
