Accidentaly added 80/90 gear oil to hydraulic tank

Yes, I'm an idiot. I was adding hydraulic fluid to my 580sl and needed a new 5 gallon can. So I just grabbed a new traveler's brand pail from tsc that I had and opened it up and put the pump in it. After putting in a gallon or so I noticed that the fluid was going in slower that usual. It's...

580sl Boom cylinder check valve question

I'm planning on putting new seals on the boom cylinder. I was looking at the service manual and it says to remove the check valve, which is mounted on the piston and reinstall it using Loctite 345-49. I can't find any reference to that online. Anyone know what I should use? I'm thinking...

    Loctite 345-49 Equivelent?

The case service manual calls for Loctite 345-49 to be used on a hydraulic cylinder relief valve. I can't find it anywhere online. The relief valve is inside the cylinder mounted to the piston. What should I use? I was thinking maybe Loctite 545? Thanks, Doug

580sl. Does this Hyd. Cyl. piston need to be replaced?

I'm in the process of resealing the dipper cylinder. It was leaking from the gland seal. Otherwise the cylinder worked fine. I assume that because of 2 bad areas I need to replace the piston, or maybe it doesn't affect it. If so, any recommendations where to get it from? Broken Tractor has...

Adding a peninsula to existing pond questions

I'm in the process of adding a peninsula to our pond, I have a couple questions I'm hoping someone can answer. The area that I added the fill to is very steep, close to a 2/1 slope and I am pretty close to being as far out into the pond as I was planning. We are planning on having a nice flat...

    Anyone have a Bobcat mini?

I am having a problem with my dealer "fixing" my ac system. According to the service manual it should be blowing out much colder air at the vents than it is. Also the pressure readings are low. I've had it in twice and they send it back telling me it's fine but nothing changes. I was...

AC pressure readings and problem with dealer.

I've had my Bobcat E50 to the dealer twice trying to get the air conditioner to work properly. So far there's been very little change. The machine has a little over 100 hours on it. I don't know a whole lot about ac's. The low side is at about 20 psi and the high side at best is 170 psi...

Hot water pressure washer vs. steam cleaner for grease.

Is there much difference between a hot water pressure washer (Approx. 180 degrees) and a steam cleaner? It would be used mainly for cleaning grease and grime off of equipment. Thanks, Doug

Case TR310B Metal flakes from tracks?

I noticed lately that there are metal flakes all along the rail under the tracks. I have about 160 hours on the machine. Is that normal or is something wrong? The flakes seem to be pretty evenly distributed along the rails and are similar on both sides. Thanks, Doug

    Case TR310B A/C quit working

For the last week or so the ac would sometimes not work. It was always at the end of the day after sitting a couple of hours. It would work fine all day and the machine would be shut off and on several times. It would work again the next morning and be fine all day again. Now it doesn't work...

Case 580SL Bushings at the end of the Dipper arm are moving

I replaced the bushings and pin at the end of the dipper arm last winter. I noticed that the bushings that the pin that holds the bucket on goes into were kind of loose so I tried to shim them. Didn't work. One of the bushings slid inward and blocked the area were the grease comes in. Is...

    Case 580sl extendahoe hose routing

I am getting ready to replace the extendahoe hoses. I was watching a video on youtube and the guy said that the hoses go over the dipper pin. Mine are below the pin. Which is the correct routing? Thank you

Case TR310B No down pressure on lift cylinders

Wondering if I'm doing something wrong but I cannot get any down pressure from the lift cylinders. I can easily raise the machine with the tilt cylinders and everything else seems to be fine with the hydraulics. Anything I should be checking before I call the dealer? I'm over 60 miles away...

Case 580SL extendahoe hose need replacing. Big job?

I think that one of the hoses going to the extendahoe cylinder is leaking, either that or the cylinder. I ordered the hoses and a seal kit so hopefully I'll have everything I need to fix the leak. I have a repair manual and it kinda makes sense to me on how to remove it. Any tips would be...

Guide lug wear on new machine?

I've put about 3 hours on a new Case TR310B. I was checking the track tension today and noticed that the rubber was wearing off on the outside of the guide lugs on both sides of the machine. Never had a CTL before so I don't know if this is normal or not. I'll try to include a picture. Is...

    Using a 72" brushcutter on a 74" wide machine?

Has anyone used a brushcutter that's not as wide as their machine, and did it create any problems? I am purchasing a machine that is 74.3" wide and the dealer has a Blue Diamond brushcutter that is only 72" wide. I really like the looks and features of it. 72" is the widest one they make. I...

Case 580sl Dust cap on front drive shaft yoke.

I'm replacing the dust cap, cork and steel washer on the yoke of the front drive shaft. (Part no. D149860) I took the old one off(seems like it unscrewed) and am trying to put the new one on. I am trying to screw it on. The threads are kind of smashed up a little at the beginning of the...

Cylinder reseal, can't get cylinder started back in tube

I am resealing one of the stabilizer cylinders on a 580sl. I cannot get the cylinder started back in the tube without ruining the piston seal. I have ruined 2 seals already. I am doing my best to keep it square and not hit it too hard with a dead blow hammer once I can't get it to move by...

    Case 580sl swing cylinder removal

I am planning on removing the swing cylinders and replacing all the bushings and pins. I'll repack the cylinders too. Any tips on the removal of the cylinders and bushings? I've never done it before and there is nothing in the service manual on it. I was thinking that I would remove and cap...

Case 1840 axle seal leaking plus maint. question.

I was changing the tires on the 1840 the other day and noticed that one of the hub-axle seals was leaking so I am going to try to replace it. I have a service manual but would appreciate any tips. Also, I don't see anything about the axle bearings in the scheduled maintenance section. Should...
