    Topcon vs Trimble

Around here it seems that topcon has the biggest share of the market. We have it on 1 Grader and 2 dozers. It will he within a tenth or so with a dozer. The Grader is set up with the mm/gps system which will get within 1/4 inch , but is very temperamental to get calibrated right. I’ve also used...

    New Cat Grader

I’d like to have one. Hate to give up my old 12h, but I believe I would have to let her go if given the choice.

    New Cat Grader

I found it on the cat website, but I can’t get my local dealer to give me any information on when they will be available here.

Grader Rims----- One Piece Rim VS Three Piece Rim ?????

We have 2 672gp Deeres and a 12h cat and all have 1 piece rims with 17.5r 25 tires. Rarely ever have flats, but most of our work is on stone base and we trailer our graders to most jobs. We rented a 120h for a job last fall that had the old 3 piece rims and had 2 flats in 3 weeks all due to...

    Hard to find

Wages for a grader hand are pretty good here. Our stone base guys start out at $ 52,000 a year plus a truck , vacation, insurance etc... I'm in the $80,000 range. The problem is that very few people these days want to put in the effort to learn their trade. Everyone wants to start at top wage...

    Hard to find

Same problem here in North Carolina. We have 3 stone base crews and can never find enough qualified operators. It seems like we always have 1 crew with a substandard grader operator just so we can keep the crew running. I guess in a way it's job security because I always have to go finish their...

    skidsteer recommendations

If it has a t prefix it's a track machine. S prefix is wheels. Generally the higher the number, the bigger the machine until you get to the newer models that are 5xx, 6xx, etc.. So a t190 is a medium sized track machine similar to a cat 259. T300 is a large track machine similar to a cat 289.

    skidsteer recommendations

I'm a big fan of track machines. For a used skid steer it's hard to beat a bobcat t190, t250, or t300. I'd stay away from the newer models (t590 etc..). The quality really suffered after Doosan bought out Ingersol Rand.

    New Cat Grader

Would love to have a 140h with a c11, but my old 12h has 16000+ and never been apart. Can't complain about that either.

    Construction Job

I'm in Charlotte and I can tell you for sure that if you put in a little time showing up in person, you will have a job in no time. We are hiring all the time. Biggest mistake most young people make starting out is asking for top wages with limited experience. Get your job first and let your...

    New Cat Grader

Around here we have very little snow, but on the rare occasion we do, we just pull my h off a job and push snow. Luckily here in North Carolina, we have no off season and can work stone all year long. By the way, my old 12h has 16,000 hours and still going strong.

    New Cat Grader

I work for a paving company setting up stone base. We have 2 John Deere 672gp, 1 12m, and a 12h vhp. I've been with the company longest, so I was given my choice of machines. Needless to say, I chose the 12h. Can't stand the m. The Deere is ok, but it's hard to beat a good 12h. In my opinion the...
