    Yes, had fluid there in both lines going to the steering cylinder. When I turned the steering wheel oil came out both the hoses . Not sure on column shaft being broken with me getting fluid to cylinder.

    I was using this unit and it just lost the steering capability. Wheels went to right and that was that. Unhooked hydraulic line and getting fluid to it. It was a little dirty, so will be changing that. Steering wheel turns. Any idea where to start looking? I just recently purchased this machine.

    Here is what I did. Lift boom up and securely brace it. Remove seat and metal plates on inside. And all the stuff in the way. Remove wheel. Then follow the manual. It's not an easy job but doable. Take a magnet and clean it out thoroughly before you replace it.

    Thanks for replies. I got these tools from Amazon: Air Brake Line Release Tools from OTC Tools (5089). Four Different sizes 3/4, 1/2, 3/8, and 5/8. It worked great! The one line gave me a little trouble but like the comment before, dirt and debris was a factor. (Similar to J-45666 & J-42971).

    What is the proper way to use a J-42971 Quick Disconnect Tool? I am removing a power steering line to a gear box. I must be over thinking this!
