    580C broken brake gear thingy

I'll see if I can figure out how to weld it better than the skills I possess, meaning I get my friend to do it :)

    580C broken brake gear thingy

I took apart the right brake assembly, which suddenly quit braking (brake would depress, get hard but provide no braking), and found these two broken parts: The dealer said they were related to the diff lock, and he couldn't get them anymore. 1. Do I really need them? Dealer said if I...

    Case 580C fuel starvation

Hey, the 580 runs again! Here's a video of it, notice how clean it looks next to my engine, clearly out of place in the dirt :) Thanks @thepumpguysc , now I have to get to work...

    Case 580C fuel starvation

Okay, so apparently these are the before and after shots from @thepumpguysc once the patient was on the table: You'll note that silver color in the second picture, that's what metal is supposed to look like :) I'm guessing after cleaning out a pound of rust and crud and replacing the...

    Case 580C fuel starvation

Dunno, I know it's in a box headed to @thepumpguysc , so I guess I'll hear how screwed up it is in a couple days when it gets there and he has a chance to laugh about it upon disassembly :)

    Case 580C fuel starvation

Wasn't too terrible to get off, hour or two maybe, just took awhile to find the timing marks in the crud. Lots of crud.

    Case 580C fuel starvation

How hard is it to get these things out? Just unbolting the shaft from the gear and undoing the pressure lines, or do I have to speak Swedish and have fingers the size of needles or something? Hoping I can get it out in less than a day :) Any steps I should "definitely avoid"?

    Case 580C fuel starvation

Okay, took off the covers, here's what I got out of it, tiny little black pieces, probably a mix of rust, gunk, and who knows what else. Cleaned things out a few times. Each time I did, the 580 ran a little better, but would eventually starve for fuel. Is the pump officially done, or...

    Case 580C fuel starvation

Thanks all, will take a look! How hard is the pump to rebuild if I decide to? I think the rebuild kit is like $40. I've rebuilt engines and put airplanes together, is this within my reach, or should I find someone to do it? Is there anyone on the forum that sells this service?

    Case 580C fuel starvation

@Billrog yes, I created a temporary tank out of a cranberry juice plastic jug, cap slightly unscrewed for venting. It idles for a few minutes then dies, sooner if you rev it up. Couple days ago it ran and drove just fine, but we've been debugging since original tank was clogged with rust and...

    Case 580C fuel starvation

Starts and runs fine, but then seems to starve. Was running fine after fixing clogged fuel lines and tank, but then started trying to starve the more I run it. I temporarily ran external fuel tank tied 4 feet up ROPS so plenty of gravity flow. Replaced filters multiple times and cleaned all...

580C fuel injector pump stuck at half throttle

It runs, yay!!! Thanks for all the help :)

Case 580C left drive wheel locks up

No, but I'm very convinced it's in that weird brake linkage assembly thing that's unique to 580's I think. I haven't gotten back to working on that rig yet, working on another 580C without a shred of brakes first :/

580C fuel injector pump stuck at half throttle

So that little spring and levers are what actually controls the throttle too or just the fuel shut off? The shut off lever is moving smoothly, I think maybe there's a friction thing on the lever on the dash that provides some resistance?

580C fuel injector pump stuck at half throttle

Okay, got the top off, and the linkage from the fuel shut off was really stuck, so I wiggled it with my fingers and it's looser now. The video is actually upside down, so the throttle linkage is toward the top (which is normally on the outside of the engine) and the fuel shut off is on the...

580C fuel injector pump stuck at half throttle

I took a look at a couple videos but the pump was a little different. It looks like I just take off the top fitting (which I think I can do with it still in the hoe) and the couple screws and lift the top off, or will stuff pop out and go all over the place? I have a Case manual for the hoe...

580C fuel injector pump stuck at half throttle

This hoe had been sitting a super long time. I cleaned the rust out of the tanks and bled the lines and it ran great, but was stuck about half throttle. The accelerator pedal doesn't seem to change it. It kept doing this so I pulled the fuel shutoff to kill the motor, but now I can't get it...

580C no voltage to starter when button pressed

Ok, it works now, here's what I did. I put the jumper back in on the shuttle neutral harness to guarantee it is closed and therefore passes current. Then I took the starter button out of the dash. Special place in a fiery lake to the idiot engineer who didn't put a captive nut on the back side...

580C no voltage to starter when button pressed

I pulled the starter button harness. With the key turned on one leg has 12vdc. I jumpered across to the other leg and the starter still didn't engage. My circuit tester said there was around 12.6VDC where I measured. But I still had the shuttle switch unplugged. Does the shuttle switch to be...

580C no voltage to starter when button pressed

I'm trying to resurrect a Case 580C which hasn't run in a long time. Got it running, but now starter switch doesn't make starter turn over. It doesn't try to engage the starter solenoid, it's like there's something that's not letting it get the signal to the starter. I pulled off the shuttle...
