    are international 530cc 275hp a good engine.

    The 530 is a contender for the Cummins 8.3. It's even got the same style injector pump as the Cummins. A rare find for sure. Most of what's out there are the DT466's rated at 230hp or less.

    A fun thing to do is to slide the fuel plate forward. Just be mindful of the exhaust temps. The pic is of an IH, but it's the same adjustment.

    The big problem I'd see with adding power to a low powered older 466, is no intercooler. It's going to get pretty hot pretty quick.

    After messing with the fuel rate, it's part of the fine tuning. The pre-93's are harder to stop the smoke after you up the fuel. That's its own thread though.

    Depending on the tire size and if it doesn't have overdrive, shoot for 3.90-4.44. I'm thinking it has 4.44 in it now.

    DT466 low power

    The 466 of that era were that slow. That low of booost also sounds about right. The rotary pump can be adjusted, I just dont have any pix of what it looks like under the big square cover. I think the highest rating with that pump was 210 or 203hp.....but they run forever. If you really want to...

    06 IH 7400 with a 300hp DT466, weighs just over 30k empty (gross is 54k)& gets a tankful avg of 4.4mpg. Mostly city driving though. Glad I dont have to pay for it! Ironically, the one I used to drive is a 94 IH 4900, DT466 with the fuel turned way up, gov springs tightened, and timing advanced...
