    Case 530CK no clutch

The converter oil needs to warm up before the clutch will release enough to shift easily. Try starting it in neutral, let it warm up a bit, then shut it off and restart in gear with the clutch depressed. Release the clutch, drive around a bit. With the oil warm, machine completely stopped...

The JLG 40F Boom Lift Dilemma

Those are Bertea valves. The JLG P/N for the pilot section is 7001307. Unfortunately NLA from JLG for the past 10 years. What is going on with them? Do you have enough pilot flow? Also Bertea valves do not function with cold oil unless the oil is thinned. If you are stuck maybe Hindley still has...

JLG 40E stuck in slow motion mode

When you activate steer a contactor puts full power to the pump motor bypassing the sevcon. When operating normally the sevcon meters the current going to the motor. Some of these had low voltage protection built into them. You may want to check the individual batteries and charge some...

JLG 40E stuck in slow motion mode

Can you plug it in? 47.5 volts is nearly dead. Fully charged resting voltage should be 50.4 and will approach 60 as the charger is finishing up.

JLG 40E stuck in slow motion mode

We're making progress. If the unit was working correctly the boom functions would go into creep mode when above elevation and tilted. Does the pump speed knob have any affect on the boom speed? I'm not sure what the speed signal should be at pin 13 other than it comes from pin 2, up through...

JLG 40E stuck in slow motion mode

Do you now have 48v at pin 7 yellow on the sevcon? If so check pin 13 white/violet with a boom function engaged and vary the boom speed knob. That will tell us if the sevcon is seeing the boom speed command.

JLG 40E stuck in slow motion mode

Pins 1 & 3 should power up the sensor (hot and ground) and 2 should have 48v coming out of the sensor when level. Check for voltage between 1 & 3, should be 48V. Is the led on the bottom of the sensor lit up? You could try to jump power to the blue/red wire to simulate a signal from the tilt...

JLG 40E stuck in slow motion mode

They are difficult to read. If you print them out sometimes you can fold an edge back and match it up to the corresponding page.

JLG 40E stuck in slow motion mode

OK, so your elevation switches are working but no signal from the tilt sensor. The tilt sensor has three wires, a hot and ground going in, and one with 48v out when the sensor is level. The wire colors at the sensor could be different but according to the print pin 1 on the connector...

JLG 40E stuck in slow motion mode

Check your voltage at pin 4 orange wire on the sevcon, should be 48v from the elevation switches when in the stowed position. Also check pin 7 yellow wire, should be 48v when the unit is level. Pin 13 white/violet is the signal from the pump speed control and pin 14 white/black is the drive...

JLG 40E stuck in slow motion mode

The JLG analyzer does not work on the 40e with the sevcon. There is a "calibrator" that was used on them that had limited capability compared to the current unit introduced with the e series scissor lifts. If you changed the sevcon the new one might have some options set up incorrectly.

    Genie Z45 overheating problems

You may want to shoot the temp of the oil in the engine oil pan compared to the cooler temp in and out. I've seen a few bad thermostats over the years but it's pretty rare.

Genie GS1930 will not lift two people

I agree, 360 hours is a fair number of hours on an electric unit, figure one hour on an electric is 10 on an IC machine. Again, I will bet that the hydraulic oil is badly contaminated. I've seen dozens of those pumps fail and every one had the remains of ground up pump mixed in with the...

JLG 400S High Rev when Starting

If it is truly over speeding to more than max governed RPM it's not an electrical issue. If you remove the actuator the engine should run at max governed RPM. The springs on the actuator push the rack back toward less fuel delivery. The rack moves according to the governor arm position and...

Genie GS1930 will not lift two people

If it returns a good flow of oil when trying to lift but not moving then the pump may be OK. I had a few that had motor controller issues causing lift problems but those were older than yours. The simplest way to check a pump is the heat test. Get them to put two guys on the lift, let the...

Genie GS1930 will not lift two people

Put two people on it and try to lift. Hold it on lift up when it stops and allow it to struggle for 10 seconds or so. I'll bet the pump will be nearly hot enough to burn your hand after that. I'll also bet that the oil looks like chocolate milk instead of cherry juice. Every one of the dozens...

Speed Level from Upright - where to get parts?

EPW sells aftermarket parts for lots of brands, but if they don't have what you are looking for Ahearn is it. And they are not particularly friendly to deal with. I would recommend that anyone looking for a used lift stick with JLG, Genie, or Skyjack for that reason.

The JLG 40F Boom Lift Dilemma

Did you get the counter weight with the unit? It bolts on to the brackets in front of the engine. If not you may want to ask the seller what happened to it. Also the unit can be towed if the torque hubs are disengaged but the tow speed should be limited to 5 mph.

    Genie Z45-22 very slow speed

I'll bet OFF is correct on this one. You need about 9.5 volts on the A terminal of each controller at full stroke in order to get full output from the flow valves. You should have 11 volts at least between the + and - on the card while lifting the boom as some is lost through the card. The...

The JLG 40F Boom Lift Dilemma

That depends on the empty weight of the trailer, if the unit you have is actually a 40F (a few units on this thread thought of as 40F's are not), and the configuration of your JLG. An older unit with no platform rotator and a 5' platform will be a bit lighter than if it has a rotator and an 8'...
