    hourly costs

As said above way to many factors. Depending on what you are pulling, the terrain will dictate fuel usages. Fuel prices, operator wages, workmens comp etc will also vary greatly.

what each brand is good at

All you are buying with the name (pete, kenworth etc) is the frame and cab. The suspension, trans, engine etc can be the same no matter what hood it is under. IE you can get a Cummins engine, Eaton trans, Hendrickson suspension, in many different trucks. That being said from the trucks I have...

    Ax Men

I feel for the family in the dog incident. After watching the first season of ax men, I had a lot of respect for jay browning, how he didn't accept any disability money etc from his employer when the hand mishap happened etc. Now however after the recent "shooting of the phone" on the last...

    Swamp Loggers ?

I think that maybe the mill cut the quota or changed their minds and then no one told bobby and he sent too much. Or corbet logs had so much of a quota and someone else who is logging for corbet hauled more then their fair share and corbet said they would take some loads away from bobby to...

    Upset got to vent

Unfortunatly, around here 40 bucks an hour for tandems and 60 an hour for semis are pretty much standard. No one who runs respectable equipment and is trying to run a profitable business can run for these rates esp with 3.00 diesel. Many minorities around here are running trucks for these...

    Which motor would you prefer?

Asking such a question is like asking chevy vs ford vs dodge. In my opinion the later detroit 60's arent too bad, pretty good on fuel but in my opnion the best of the best are the 855 cummins, the n14 red tops and the signature 600s.

    Good Gooseneck Dump Trailer?

Go with either a baker built trailer (my first choice) or a Big lug trailer. Heres a picture of my dump. Its a pj trailer. Total junk. The trailer is a 06 and the paint is already wore off. When I first got it the pin that connects the ram to the trailer (to raise it) broke and wenth...

    2007 T-800 new and unusable

Sorry to hear about your truck. It seems there is no quality control or pride in peoples work anymore. No one stands behind their product. I bought a new dump box for my brand new truck. One corner of the box is 2 1/2 inches higher then the other. I called the dealer who sold it to me, they...

Should drivers who can't shift gears be allowed on the road?

I can definily see the advantages of auto trannys, esp with large carriers etc. I know many guys who have been driveing for 30 years who still ride the clutch brake, grind them, dump the clutch on dump trucks like t hey are gonna jerk the box off etc. I can see why many fleets run autos and...

    A little rotor wear

Ive seen all too many like that, scary to think most of the trucks I have seen them on were driven in and had current safety stickers.

    What do you think

One thing to keep in mind skidders are EXPENSIVE, to buy operate etc. Unless you have a ton of money and can get something failry new and decent, if your looking at buying one "cheap" with new tires or trans needed, youll end up losing bunches of money.
